My friend's computer just started shitting out on him. I'm calling on your expertise. He says it locks up during Counter-strike and he reformated but now after using for a little bit an error comes up saying "win32.exe cannot be found." What is your basic assumption/what does he have to pay to replace?
I was thinking he needs new motherboard. _________________ My Hawt Blog Vita Games

win32.exe is not a Windows component, it's a virus. See anti-spyware thread.

| if its still there after format, its probably a boot sector virus. which means he probably didn't do a full reformat, but a quick one. so it lives on. |

| Boot-sector viruses aren't very common nowadays -- they were more relevant in the days of floppies -- and I'm seeing no indication that any of the viruses that install themselves under "win32.exe" use the boot sector. Also, I'm pretty sure installing Windows wipes the boot sector. I think he was simply infected soon after reformatting, and the Counterstrike lockups are completely unrelated. |
