win32.exe is not a Windows component, it's a virus. See anti-spyware thread.

| Boot-sector viruses aren't very common nowadays -- they were more relevant in the days of floppies -- and I'm seeing no indication that any of the viruses that install themselves under "win32.exe" use the boot sector. Also, I'm pretty sure installing Windows wipes the boot sector. I think he was simply infected soon after reformatting, and the Counterstrike lockups are completely unrelated. |
