I'm up 9% since Jan 1 '07. I have just been trading in SPY, which is the index fund mirroring the S&P 500. That's almost double the interest i'm getting from my savings account.
Anyone else dabbling in high finance? |

This game scares me. I used to play but cashed out in the late 90's. This game doesn't come with a clear instruction booklet, and the controller is less intuitive than the Wii.
I actually just got a letter from THE BANK OF NEW YORK saying that I still had some assets that I needed to take care of. I need to buy a stamp so I can mail them back. _________________ my website |

| Well I wouldn't call an index fund "playing the market", it's just a sound long-term growth investment for the average Joe who has little or no specific financial knowledge. Anyone in their twenties or thirties who doesn't place their retirement savings into either an index or mutual fund is overly risk-averse (considering that the risks really only exist in the short run) and foregoing large amounts of future returns for basically no reason. |

I was in skool to be a stockbroker back in early '01. Left it because it was unpaid, and I needed to start making real, tangible money immediately. Still, I learned a lot about it all. Wouldn't even consider investing in that house of cards until I could afford the loss. _________________ Steam/PSN/Xbawks: GcDiaz

That isn't playing the market. That's just growing your money.
You should try shorting stocks if you want to "play."
I have some shares in Apple.. I'm waiting for them to really get ridiculously priced. _________________

I have some stock through my company but it's not really anything I am riding on. It is way down. _________________ “We completely understand the public’s concern about futuristic robots feeding on the human population, but that is not our mission,” - Harry Schoell, Cyclone Power Technologies Inc, in response to erroneous reports about a robot under development. |
