|
|
Either diluted, raw or as a brine (the juice in pickles or pepperoncini jars). There has to be some of you out there that have done it for medical reasons or sheer curiosity.
If so, why? Personally, i like the brine left over in pickle jars. Just a sip will kill bad breath in a pinch and leaves me with the taste that I had just eaten a pickle. I drink directly from the bottle, to firmly establish MY FOOD in front of my roommates. They said it's weird and that I should just throw it out. Fuck them. _________________ Still alive. |

So, what's it good for, medically speaking? _________________

In the 4th grade I had a thing for white vinegar. I'd pour myself an 8oz glass and just sip away at it. Being clear, I could make a line straight for my bedroom with everyone thinking it was just water. It came to a crashing stop on the night that I awoke at 2am with the most excruciating pain of my entire life. I don't know what an appendix feels like when it bursts, but it was probably worse than even that. I crawled to my mom's bedroom door and cried for her to wake up and take me somewhere. Went to the hospital, was admitted, then held for observation. The doctors all wanted to go in and operate immediately, assuming it was appendicitis. My mom held firm and forced them to wait and see what the fuck was actually wrong with me. Of course, she'd lost a child (Christian, he would've been son #2 instead of me) in a hospital so she was very reluctant to put my life in their hands. Ultimately everything went away and I went home to feast on chicken broth. I still enjoy the white stuff, but now in great moderation and always in a homemade vinaigrette. _________________ Steam/PSN/Xbawks: GcDiaz

Drinking vinegar with water is supposed to help with stomach problems, mainly acid reflux. _________________ “We completely understand the public’s concern about futuristic robots feeding on the human population, but that is not our mission,” - Harry Schoell, Cyclone Power Technologies Inc, in response to erroneous reports about a robot under development. |

Why would drinking MORE acid help with... an excess of acid?
I mean it might, the body is weird, but it doesn't make much sense. _________________

i knew an old man from nashville who swore by the benefits of drinking an elixir of apple cider vinegar mixed with some kind of special-grade honey every day. he demonstrated its effects by doing a bunch of push ups and carrying his wife around the room.
you gotta drink the organic unfiltered stuff for those kind of benefits though i think |

| I have heard of people doing this, but I cant say I see any interest in doing it, I dont much care for vinegar. I have had several people tell me that you can drink vinegar to help 'flush' your system to help pass a drug test when you shouldnt. I cant say I have any way to know or test the theory, but I was wondering if anyone had heard of that before? |

| In high school I recall some guys drinking it in small doses and it supposedly helped them hit certain weight levels for wrestling. Never tried it myself. |

That was probably white vinegar which reminds me, never use white vinegar when you're cooking. Shit is nasty. You can use it to clean out everything in the kitchen, or to get rid of nasty mouth odors if you're so inclined, so it's handy to have a gallon of it under the sink but all you really need for cooking is balsamic, apple cider, and red wine vinegar. _________________

Err, I use white vinegar to decent effect in my cooking sometimes. I think many of my uses could probably be improved with rice or malt vinegar, but it's great for pickling at least.
I've drank vinegar before, but a few times it gave me a stomach ache so I haven't since. |

I'm not really sure if pickling is cooking but I definitely didn't mean it to be since you certainly can use white vinegar to pickle your heart out! _________________

Look, I'm just the type of guy who will eat pieces of raw onion as he cuts them up for a stirfry. The type of guy who will take a swig of balsamic vinegar while making a salad dressing. The type of guy who can and will eat an entire jar of pickles in one sitting, juice and all. I dunno, my tongue has some pretty extreme tastes. But on the other hand I'm not really picky. _________________

When I was like twelve my friends payed me $20 to chug a jar of pickle juice. It wasn't so bad actually, it pretty much just tasted like pickles. The shit floating around in it was pretty gross though. Does that count? _________________

| I just tried sipping this stuff, diluted (with already really bad acid reflux problems), and I've just been dribble-vomitting. I'll stick to chips. |

I use vinegar to clean scale from the forge off of knife blades sometimes.
If I was really a man I would drink the resulting vinegar/steel juice, wouldn't I? _________________

No. Research-grade ethanol. Sealed against hydrolization for the highest alcohol content possible.

Chu have you tried balsamic? I find it tends to have a more full-bodied flavor than malt, unless milder's what you're going for. _________________

this hypochondriac loser at the last place i worked suffered from stomach pains (prolly stress related but he self diagnosed everything in the book) used to drink cider vinegar every morning as treatment.
god the laughs we had about that behind his back, not as funny as the time he went somewhere to "allergy testing" and they just did the same thing scientologists do by measuring your resistance and then ticked off what hes allergic to on a list and it was like wheat/cheese/tomato basically pizza haha _________________
