You might remember in the jobs thread a few months ago, I mentioned I was doing an interview with a company in silicon valley. Well I got that job, so I'll be moving to the Bay area this February. I've noticed there's quite a few SBers from the area, though I don't remember precisely who they are -- post here to remind me please! Especially given that I know essentially nobody in the region in real life, I thought it would be nice to meet up with some of you.
Also, now that my work visa application (I'm Canadian) is mostly prepared, I've started to look for apartments on craigslist. It's a bit awkward since it won't be really feasible for me to visit before renting, so I am looking into cheap temporary sublets, probably with roommates (both for cheapness and to have someone to socialize with early on) and in San Francisco proper. If you or someone you know have a sublet available, or if you have any other advice, I'd be interested. |

Okay thanks guys. I'll try and get in touch with some of you when I get there.
Yeah sure daphny, I'd be happy to come to your party. My occasional silence doesn't mean I don't like you, just that I don't have anything in reply to your posts. I'll probably be there and mostly free during the first week of March. I'll send you my coordinates when I actually have an apartment and phone in the area. |

| Well, I don't actually live in Montreal. I moved out of town for my first job. |

Man are some of these craigslist listings annoying. I was looking at this 700$ listing and then noticed it was 700$ per day.
I don't know how easy it will be to rent something without visiting. Besides me being wary of an apartment I haven't seen, the other guy will probably be reluctant to agree to anything with somebody far away as well. I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to do everything at the last minute and stay at a youth hostel for a few days while I look for apartments in person.
Sigh, I hate apartment hunting. |
