all the pollsters were extra wrong, who predicted an obama win by like ten points. It was a narrow victory, but an important one.

the other day her voice broke during a speech, and she almost burst into tears. i figured this would kill her credibility, being that a president can't start crying when the President of Iran isn't playing nice, but apparently all the women of NH ate it up, and showed out in record numbers.

oh yeah, mccain won too.

lol

This is nothing short of disappointing. It frustrates me that people can be manipulated so easily and blatantly. I was really hoping Obama would pull out another victory, and it looked like he would for a while there.

Conversely, Obama is now back into his more suited role as the outsider and Hillary is still the "incumbent", so to speak. Her crocodile tears were pathetic, by the way. What's more dangerous is that the media listened to the Clinton bullshit about how they were never expecting to win in Iowa and then built Obama's campaign right up just to knock it down.

I'm holding all you American posters personally accountable if Obama doesn't get into the White House. There will be moderhation like never before this November! The democrats are fucked if they push Billary against a Republican even halfway popular with independents, she is just too fucking divisive among even the dems. The whole party is fucked if they can't win after two terms of the Worst President Ever.

Yeah, this came as a surprise. I don't really know why Hillary won (surely it's not the tears? come on). I like the theory that says that New Hampshire bucked the trend just to say 'fuck you, Iowa, we decide the president'. Also, even I as an Obama supporter was starting to get pissed at the blanket media coverage bowing before him as the new Messiah.

lol

pres w. bush and clinton cried like every other day on the campaign trail lol

hillary is a saint to put up with the unflattering pics posted on the front page of papers, and the signs from chevanist males that read "iron my shirts"

she's not gonna change anything, though

they say obama has no experience, but he could have a four year diarrhea session in the oval office bathroom and accomplish more than Geo W

Edit: i just realized maz beat me to the crocodile tears joke. damn you, maz!

Because I'm too lazy.

The clusterfuck that is American politics will be one of the largest contributing factors to the coming recession (if we're not already in one).

Does anyone else find the primary circus even more ridiculous than the rest of politics?

A couple weeks ago Hillary was the front runner. Then she loses in Iowa and all of a sudden her campaign is "doomed" and Obama is the future. Now she wins one state and she's made an amazing "comeback"!

When in reality, all that happened is that Obama and Hillary each won one tiny state.

Imagine how annoying it would be to watch basketball if, when the first time someone scored, the announcers raved about how the game was over. And then when the other team scored, they pronounced it a mindblowing comeback. We wouldn't put up with that shit - so why do we allow it with political coverage?

boring wins don't sell newspapers, or ad space on the teevee. plus these goddamn things are spead out a week at a time, not the twenty seconds it takes to drain a three.

but your point is well taken.

it is annoying. and it's even more annoying how well these politicians can string the press along, making moves knowing exactly how the press is going to react.

A. Recessions are necessary.

B. Presidents have little if any effect on the economy. It's mostly the Fed, followed by administrative agencies (which while technically executive have little contact with the President in their day to day operation) followed by Congress.

A) I'm aware of that, but that doesn't make them any less problematic for Presidents; particularly during electoral years. It also doesn't make them any less easy to deal with or fix, whether accidentally or purposefully.

B) A President can have as much or as little effect on the economy as they want. I'd hardly call a President like Roosevelt as having "little effect on the economy." More than that, the housing market is down--this in particular is not indicative of good things on the horizon.

For a more recent example, President Clinton (the one who got caught on the job with a penis in his intern) deregulated the communications industry, allowing for massive monopolization (oligopolization if you want to get technical) over this past decade. This has had huge effects on the industry and its respective markets (which at this point, is basically everything), including the videogames which we so adore here.

Also, while the President is chiefly a foreign officer, their effects on Congress and The Fed are tantamount to a parent providing the baby steps needed to allow them to move.

Kerry endorses Obama. I'm not sure whether support from this loser is good for Obama or good for Hillary. Clearly the Obama campaign is a little iffy on this too because they intentionally postponed the announcement until after the NH primary.

Goddamn it Kerry and Bill Clinton, get a life and stop meddling. George H.W. Bush and Al Gore had the right idea.

I hope it wasn't Richardson. Richardson was only good if you only looked at his resume and not at what he said. He's one of those incompetents who manages to accumulate an impressive series of jobs solely by impressing people with his previous jobs, not by being any good.

Yes, yes it was Richardson. I liked his position on getting rid of No Child Left Behind, immediately withdrawal from Iraq, his energy policy, and I respected his negotiation experience.

Maybe Hillary didn't win after all...

http://www.electiondefensealliance.org/

Kucinich is requesting a hand recount of the ballots, and those numbers flipping like that are suspect, if really the case.

I kinda hope they do a recount and find something, and the 2008 elections will be reduced to paper ballot only. Or at least the universal banning of all those corruptible electronic voting machines.
