Excellent!!

. . . It's a pretty good song. I like the distortion of the guitar.

I don't know, though. It sounds a little too European for me.

. . . :P

Also, to be constructive: video needs a hell of a lot more rock. Or, uh, a lot more of SOMETHING.

I like the drummer. Kind of reminds me of Broken Social Scene a bit. For some reason.

Where are these people from?

They are from NYC, and I'm not sure where that "European" comment is coming from. They sound like My Bloody Valentine much more than anything else.

I think it's coming from a person who was from Europe, and didn't know what to do about it.

I kind of like MBV better though.

I was listening to Smashing Pumpkins today LOL

Spike Jone and his city slickers. Some of his murders and other famous works. Both fantastaticabulous and hillaricarious at the same time.

Also I got Tom Waits' Orphans. Grawl!

Ghostface Killah's new album, More Fish. Only 9 months ago he released his previous album, Fish Scale. Good stuff.

Yeah, pretty much. I don't really like it. It's pretty much a bunch of "dark"-sounding Apex Twin-ripoff tracks with Silent Hill music sprinkled throughout.

I've noticed Ghost has 3 of these Theodore Unit albums, Put it on the Line, 718, and More Fish. Are they as good as his regular albums? He's a very consistent rapper, I was quite happy with his last two main albums Pretty Toney and Fishscale.

I just got an ipod (yay!) so i've been hard core listening to music again. Back when my laptop was the village bicycle a bunch of people loaded tons of cds onto my computer, many of which i have never heard of before but they're now all on there. makes for some interesting discoveries... unfortunately most of it is like harsh noise music which isn't the best for mild bus riding and studying.

but i discovered the other day this album called "I am the Cosmos" by chris bell and it is incredible! Today i looked him up, I guess he was friends with Alex Chilton and in Big Star for awhile. I am the Cosmos is his only solo album and a year after it was recorded he died in a car accident? It's really really good though, I don't really know how to describe it but it is not that complicated. Paul McCartney-esque song writing but played in a way that is just... awesome. I guess it was recorded in '77 but not released until the mid 90's. Listening to it I couldn't even tell what era it was from--it sounds either ahead of its time, or one of those bands that does a throwback to older styles without sounding completely lame.

But really anyone that likes guitars and drums and stuff should listen to it!

Also: Does anyone know a lot about Ghost (japanese band)? I've been wanting to listen to them more but I don't really know where to begin. I'm not really interested in their more ambient-y experimental-y stuff...when I saw them play a couple years ago they were playing real cool rock 'n' roll but then I saw a live dvd that was mostly like, clanging bells in temples and stuff. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Snuffbox Immanence is one of the best albums ever recorded, though it's more psych-folk than rock. If you're more interested in their rock stuff, maybe you'd be better off with Hypnotic Underworld.

I can't wait for their new one! They've covered "Caledonia" by Cromagnon!

been listening to Iron & Wine. mostly Woman King, The Sea and the Rhythm (their ep), and The Creek Drank the Cradle. Great stuff.

Toups, if you haven't heard Iron & Wine, you should give them a listen. (since you like Sufjan, and folk music in general, i think you'd dig them).

i downloaded a couple of tracks from Woman King and Creek respectively:

Evening On the Ground (Lilith's Song): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0A4L9RPF

Weary Memory: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IEU3Z0BS

and when i say Sufjan, i'm referring to Seven Swans, more or less. and Seven Swans is folk in my book.

and for the hell of it, i've uploaded one of my favorite Joan of Arc songs:

ne mosquitos pass: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GQ8YET80

i can almost guarantee dhex wouldn't like Joan of Arc on a philosophical levels. dhex, you're so serious ;_;

I got an iPod for Christmas. Nano, 1 gig, which is all I need. I have trouble deciding what to put on it. Honestly I'll only use it while walking to class and running (and even then rarely, since I run with my roommates). Fast, fun music is a good running motivator. I'm thinking it'll be a good opportunity to give all those 6-song EPs a good listen, as I always feel guilty wasting an entire CD for those to go in my car. None More Black's Loud About Loathing is go. It's probably their best album, too. Figures.

Cold War Kids - Robbers and Cowards

Saw these guys on Letterman one night, and their slightly odd live performance made me knab their album. The singers voice isn't that good, but that sorta makes it good. Plus the lyrics are sing-a-longable, and have an old timey feel. The music itself is like White Stripes, if it were deciding on being more of a band rather than a two piece I guess. Plus one of the guitarists was wearing a puffy shirt and had a very large guitar on Letterman.

Deerhoof has some strange powers. I used to think that The Runners Four was their best album yet, but I just heard Reveille and I don't know anymore.

Joanna Newsom's "Ys" is pretty great. I didn't know what to think of it at first but it's growing on me really quickly.

Deerhoof is pretty keen.

Also, I just got The Flaming Lips' "The Soft Bulletin".

Wow, everybody was right. It IS a lot better than Yoshimi! I still like Yoshimi, though.

Also guys, I've pretty much decided that Warren Zevon's "Life'll Kill Ya" is the best album ever recorded. I've had it for quite some time, but it just now sank in.

Envelopes - Demon

Very good modern indie pop rock band from Europe. Very much like your Decemberists and others, but with accents and maybe a good dose of late 80's pop rock here and there. Also, when I saw them open for Ratatat they played the NES version of the Final Fantasy theme as their warm up music. I know you guys love Final Fantasy, so check em' out!

You can listen to the whole album on their website: http://www.envelopes.se/audiovisual/

Rammstein's new-ish live album Voelkerball has been getting a lot of playtime lately, as I finally found a torrent that didn't require a password to un-RAR.

I have pretty bad taste in music okay, Rammstein is probably my favourite band.

Nah, man, here's the thing, I'll listen to anything if it's interesting, even if I don't like it!

This album, though, is quite interesting, and I find it pretty funky. It's got this dark, foreboding shit going down that a man can dig on.

It's music you'd fuck a married woman to after going through an eight-ball. I can dig it.

Nine Inch Nails' [With_Teeth] mashed up with Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, themselves by three, Gorillaz, the Stooges, Kool and the Gang, David Bowie, Lee Hazlewood, Joy Division and the Fight Club soundtrack.

It's laughable.

It's awesome.

Be sure to check out the rest of the guy's site. There are some pretty fun mash-ups to be found.

In other NIN related news: We may see an album before 2010.
