Looking for more post hardcore/screamo like Touche Amore, Suffocate for Fuck Sake, La Dispute, mewithoutYou and Victor! Fix the Sun.
Also black and sludge metal is welcomed. Only listen to Amesoeurs for black metal atm and for sludge I have Boris, High on Fire, Mastodon, Baroness, Torche.
Anyone ?
Edit: I'd actually like more everything really. I mainly listen to shoegaze, post punk, post rock, noise rock, indie rock, indie pop, electronic, hip hop. _________________ psn: Cryptomensia |

touche amore is cool. i missed them twice in orlando but have talked to their vocalist online (lol??)
i can give a ton of recs for this genre but bear in mind that la dispute/mwy are quite shit and very much on the poppy/mainstream side of it
go for funeral diner's the underdark and daitro's laisser vivre les squelettes first, ask for more if you like that _________________ o tempora, o mores |

The new Gorillaz was very good. The album art is gorgeous. I also like the new style they did their website in, that band has always had a really awesome website. _________________ I am over or exactly 13 years of age.

i feel like there's a lot of baggage attached to that relationship, soooo.....
interesting tracklist! most of those are my favorites from I am Not Insane, though Reeling the Liars In is sort of an interesting choice, as that one sounded the most "Angels of Light-y" to me. wonder which version of Eden Prison he'll go with.
hey Dracko, come fly out to NYC in October and see these dudes with me and dongle |

Real cover art (white light from the mouth of infinity!), shopped borders. I hope it actually looks like this, though.
The new Kayo Dot and Current 93 albums are my favorites so far this year, but I have high hopes for this one... _________________

Anyone thoughts on Lady Gaga here? Does anyone care?
I've only just started paying any attention at all, really. The video for "Bad Romance" seems to me like there's some kind of Kubrick influence...
Reminds me of Eyes Wide Shut, kind of... I think I like her videos. I don't hate the music, either.

in my circles people tend to either defend her music by saying she writes it all or say it doesn't matter that she writes it all

I mean I guess it's cool that she does, but I'm not sure I'd care either way.
Some of her songs are pretty good, but I think it's her visual side that I find more interesting. Sexy as hell, actually.
This review of The Fame Monster sums up what I like about her pretty well, actually:

The music part of GaGa (this is how I think it should be spelled), at least, is something I rather enjoy. It's the confabulated image that I have trouble with, particularly in her music videos.
Nice article, agree with much of the music commentary, sometimes on sometimes off with the video commentary. _________________

I mean it's all pretty fun I guess? I feel like at this point there's nothing for me to contribute to discussion about her, but I think the way I dance has bits of her stuff in it _________________ ♪ x x x ♫ x x x ♫ x ♫ ♫

She seems to play the part of Lady Gaga quite comfortably, and if you look up some of her old music as Stefani whatshername you may get the impression that this was a metamorphosis she was bound for. Either way, the persona of Lady Gaga is apparently somewhat conceptual -- though I'm not sure to what extent she's "commenting" on fame, rather than simply fetishizing it to an almost surreal degree -- which fascinates me a bit.
I'm reminded of The Angels of Light song "Michael's White Hands," which was supposedly an actual comment on celebrity -- specifically, Michael Jackson and the perception of him as an adrogynous nymph and a materialization of glamour -- and how these people are really just archetypal manifestations of collective dreams or decadent desires or whatever. Of course, not without some patently apocalyptic overtones...

I haven't really paid any attention to Jesu since Conqueror.
If he could ever get back to making things like Heart Ache (or, uh, Streetcleaner, though not likely) I'd be interested again.

I haven't. Will look them up.
What did you make of Greymachine? I think it's not quite on par with earlier Godflesh, though it really isn't bad.
Oh and by the way, here's the first review of the new Swans album.
By all appearances it seems to be real, and has me quite excited! _________________

You know where you can find them. ;o
Greymachine I like. I still think Vultures Descend is the real deal and stand-out track, though.
Honestly, I think when it comes to JKB-related metal, the last albums I really got into where Transitional's. Stomach of the Sun makes for a good BLAME! soundtrack.
I've only just started rediscovering Godflesh on account of the re-releases and compilations, though. Next up is the Streetcleaner reissue. Life is Easy was the only track that stood out for me of what I heard of the band's when I was a teen.
EDIT: New Swans comes out the same day as Halo: Reach. That's going to make two rather grand early birthday presents. 8) _________________
