Son of a bitch. NIN played the entirety of The Downward Spiral at Webster Hall.

Here's hoping for a recording.

Nine Inch Nails cover Gang of Four's Anthrax live alongside Gary Numan, Eric Avery and HEALTH.

Apparently Mike Garson was also present during the concert.

Headphone Commute, and all around good review site dealing with the more instrumental and ambient forms of music, ranging anywhere between glitch, IDM, classical, shoegaze, post-rock and trip-hop, have got some pretty grand mixtapes up:

Organic Ambient
Modern Classical
Intelligent Breakcore

Also, a Hecq-created mixtape has me intrigued enough to give his works more of a listen. Very soothing ambient tunes with a slight aquatic bent.

Angels of Light is good stuff. If you're curious about Swans, I'd suggest starting with either Soundtracks for the Blind or Children of God/World of Skin.

Also, for good mixtapes, check out Headphone Commute.

Ben Frost is going to be mentored by Brian Eno.

Wow.

And Poland's Unsound Festival has commissioned him along with Daníel Bjarnason to create a piece inspired by Solaris.

Thanks to Cycle for bringing these to my attention.

Digital single out soon.

Have you heard Pale Sketches, though?

And Infinity was pretty heavy. Check that one out too.

Oh, Aidan Baker has his own label now: http://brokenspine.bigcartel.com/

Which I like, because I'd rather give money straight to artists I like if I can.

You know where you can find them. ;o

Greymachine I like. I still think Vultures Descend is the real deal and stand-out track, though.

Honestly, I think when it comes to JKB-related metal, the last albums I really got into where Transitional's. Stomach of the Sun makes for a good BLAME! soundtrack.

I've only just started rediscovering Godflesh on account of the re-releases and compilations, though. Next up is the Streetcleaner reissue. Life is Easy was the only track that stood out for me of what I heard of the band's when I was a teen.

EDIT: New Swans comes out the same day as Halo: Reach. That's going to make two rather grand early birthday presents. 8)
