So - is anyone else enjoying the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs as much as I am? [other than Toptube who does not like it] Seriously every other song I reflexively turn the volume up again. It's such a big art-poppy change it makes Show Your Bones seem like boring indie rock by comparison.

I am psyched because I just bought a copy of The Angelic Process' Coma Wearing for a tenner on eBay. It's not only out of print but was limited to 750 copies.

A guy over at The Avalanches forum uploaded a ton of their mixes:

swamp wrote:

cornerstone - mate in usa sent me cdr ov disc 2

at home 2 - 3rd breezeblock & beats in space. this iz cdr rip, but also originally d/l offa avs site @192kbs

morning becomes eclectic - robbie & dexta. real player rec. i had the chance to getta fm copy ov this but foolishly declined at the time. u still there jason?...

hijack - robbie & dexta

superchunk - re-b/cast ov edited versions ov superchunk march 2001. i didnt rec this at the time. did d/l a very poor quality mp3. this set iz missin 1st couple & last trak. 2nd mix iz edited version ov gimix

jjj mix-up 3 - james. 2nd mix-up aint werth bovverin wiv cos itz jus a couple of the other mixes thrown togevver by robbie

when i met you - bootleg edited version ov gimix (itz longer). i hav changed sum ov trak titles in line wiv currently accepted version & correctin coupla obvious errors. original traxlist

I just listened to all of Bob Dylan's new album- "Together Through Life."It's still sinking in- I kind of like the sound more than "Modern Times"-this has more breathing space. A couple of songs sound like that belong at some sort of faux-Italian wedding. Hm. It's almost charming

Its definitely a very calculated synth-pop album, but ultimately very stale to my ears. I much prefer the rock stylings of Show Your Bones album and Is Is EP. I don't even really like any of their stuff before that, except for the song "Maps".

GREYMACHINE's Disconnected comes out on the 4th of August.

However, you can already order the Japanese edition from Daymare recordings, via Inoxia.

My copy shipped this morning. I know some people have already received it. The bonus track is the the version of We Are All Fucking Liars available on the 12" single.

Also, the new jesu and Final albums are up for sale on Broadrick's own Avalanche Inc. site.

ATTN: antitype

jesu's Infinity is the best release under that moniker since Heart Ache and the self-titled album.

Also:

Caldo Verde wrote:
Justin Broadrick first emerged as a force in music as part of the band Napalm Death in the mid eighties. He then formed Godflesh which cemented his place in a genre which is variously known as extreme, grindcore or just new metal. There are however, many arrows in Justin Broadrick’s quiver. Over the last twenty years he has maintained a series of projects ranging in musical style from punk to industrial to the layered, melodic atmospherics of his current band, Jesu and it’s newest release, an EP called ‘Opiate Sun’. This ability to step outside the confines of musical convention sets him apart creatively from other writer musicians who have been working in his field over this period. Despite, or perhaps because of this stylistic diversity he has attracted an obsessively loyal fanbase and a reliably positive response from critics. The question is always, How does he sound so light while staying so heavy?

Jesu’s output has been spasmodic but of a uniform high quality. All instruments are played by Justin Broadrick and apart from the occasionally guest vocalist (Jarboe from The Swans) he handles all vocals. Two traditional sequenced albums, ‘Jesu’ in 2004, and ‘Conqueror’ in 2007 plus an album length song, ‘Infinity’, in July 2009 have been intertwined with a number of EPs. In 2008 Jesu issued one EP, ‘Why Are We Not Perfect?’ and contributed to two more split EPs with other bands. ‘Opiate Sun’ is the only Jesu release in 2009 aside from ‘Infinity’.

‘Opiate Sun’ will be released in the US and UK on Mark Kozelek’s Caldo Verde Records home of Mark’s own Sun Kil Moon and other transformative musical endeavors. Mark was captured by the strength of Justin’s performance when he saw him live in San Francisco in 2007. Therefore he was only too happy to help out when the opportunity arose to be involved in this important project.

Justin Broadrick is a native of Birmingham, England and resides in Wales. He has produced or remixed releases by Pantera, Isis, and Pelican. He also runs his own label, Avalanche Inc.

TRACK LISTING:
1. Losing Streak
2. Opiate Sun
3. Deflated
4. Morning Light

You can see the sleeve and CD design here.

On that note, could you or anyone else suggest me good places to start with the works of Mark Kozelek, whether it be his solo stuff or under Red House Painters or Sun Kil Moon?

guys it took like two days

Dracko I would definitely start either with this or Ocean Beach (probably this). Ocean Beach is probably more consistent, but I think my favourites are on the rollercoaster album. Down Colourful Hill is good too (in fact depending on what you like that might be a better start), but the title track doesn't really go very far. I've hardly heard the later stuff (or their second self-titled, if you listen to that please tell me what it's like).
