I discovered Godflesh through the soundtrack to the awful Dean Koontz adaptation Hideaway, starring Jeff Goldblum and Christina Applegate. It was a terrible, terrible movie, but its soundtrack actually had some pretty cool stuff on it, including "Nihil" by Godflesh, which I think remains one of their best tracks.
Of course, past my teens I've preferred Swans, though it didn't start out that way. I imagine that's a transition typical of many. Actually, I find it sort of weird that both bands are co-headlining an upcoming music festival... _________________

Well, that was more interesting than I expected. She still strikes me as someone whose talent doesn't quite shoulder her concepts yet. Certainly worth watching, but this album's really only half good. _________________

I really wish Grinderman was a good project - the aesthetic's at least partially there - but the music just sucks, unfortunately. _________________

| You know that scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey with the monolith? All the monkeys are throwing shit at it, trying to climb it and trying to break it down. Every different monkey is going about fucking with the monolith in a totally different way. Some have bones, some have rocks, and some are just pounding it with their fists. That’s how I feel about us too. It’s the same monolith, but we’re just trying to break it down in different ways. |

Idunno if y'all metally people also like lighter musics, but there's a new Sufjan Stevens album! It's friggin' great!
And so is the EP from a month-ish ago! Here's my favorite track from it:
Also I'm seeing Vampire Weekend with a girl I'm in the process of ladying a week from friday! I'm actually not familiar with them, but my brother is always saying they're great and they've been on my "to pirate" list for a few months now... I'm just lazy. |

Ben Frost was really great! Much heavier use of guitar than I was expecting at moments.
Baby Dee was really... cute? Sort of like David Tibet meets Joanna Newsom.
Swans were fucking incredible. I almost burst into tears from the total power of "No Words/No Thoughts." They were absolutely crushing and majestic.
I get to see them again tonight. _________________

I’m happy to finally announce the re-issue of the first Nine Inch Nails record Pretty Hate Machine, releasing worldwide 11/22. UMe and Bicycle Music Group managed to locate the original mixes, so I went in the studio with Tom Baker and remastered it for a greatly improved sonic experience. In addition, Rob reinterpreted Gary Talpas’ original cover to make for a fresh new package.
It’s been an interesting trip watching the fate of this record float from one set of hands to another (a long and depressing story) but it’s finally wound up in friendly territory, allowing us to polish it up a bit and present it to you now. We had fun revisiting this old friend, hope you enjoy. |

TsuShiMaMiRe just put out a new PV for the title track of their recent album "Sex On The Beach".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eS9aNM9J6IY
*bonus shitty live footage of their song "J-Pop" is also included right after in the video.
I saw them on Halloween eve and they were fucking rad. I've been a fan for a few years and have a live DVD but damn if their performance at that show wasn't legitimately much better than the DVD. |

Japanese band Mass of The Fermenting Dregs is losing its guitarist due to her suffering from a Chronic illness.
The band already had to replace their original drummer (which negatively affected their sound IMO). Its unclear at this point if they will continue with the name or if the singer/bassist (the only original member) and the new drummer will change the name and recruit a new guitarist.
They toured Canada recently but I couldn't go due to FUCKING MID-TERMS happening at the same time. looks like I will NEVER have a chance to see them. |

Ok so about 3 weeks ago gogo's bassist, Akko, announced that she is pregnant and GO!GO!7188 will be on indefinite hiatus. The next day, Yuu's side band Chirinuruwowaka (which have been inactive for about two years) hinted at something on twitter . Days later, they announce a tour and a second coming album. A week after that, and we have the first single along with a PV.
CHIRINURUWOWAKA HAS RETURNED!
