Today's Active Lifestyles is Polvo's second studio album. It was released on Merge Records in 1993. Early versions featured red tigers in the yellow color field, but these were soon removed due to a threatened lawsuit by their painter

that's pretty wild. I guess they found out?

ah, more

The original cover had these tiger heads in the middle of all that yellow. Art was cut out of some goofy religious pamphlet by a friend and now bandmate of mine, the then Erectus Monotone guitarist Andy Freeburn. I think someone got sued as the thing got re-ished sans tigers.

I've ignored all TMBG output for the last ten or so years but I ended up buying The Else on iTunes (it's actually another two months until the physical album will be released).

It's produced in part by the Dust Brothers, and it has a pretty consistent sound throughout (for a TMBG release, especially!). some great upbeat numbers, too.

^^and album art, because this thread seems to be down with that.

The new Ohgr is much better than the second album, but still not as good as the incredible first album. It's more interesting, in a way, because it's quite different from his previous stuff.

okay, I am like two months late on this but I've been without internet for about a month so

this is good to hear. i saw skinny puppy when they came around last but I'm out of the loop as far as ohgr. seeing ohgr was incidentally my first real concert! fantastic show.

i have to say, given skinny puppy's output in the initial run i think that they're better off trying to accomplish what they want accomplished with Ohgr anyway. they've honestly been able to nail the pop aspect pretty well in that project, and when it comes out in skinny puppy, well... new skinny puppy is kind of hit or miss. Sometimes I think it can't decide whether it wants to be eminently listenable or uncompromisingly unlistenable and then it makes a strange compromise in the middle. it suffers for that.
