It's a pretty good combination of loungey jazz and IDM. I Feel Blue is a great downtempo song with a melancholic acoustic guitar solo. If we had another mixtape thread, I would feel pretty good about sending this song in.
Jaga Jazzist's A Livingroom Hush is a lot more jazzy than What We Must, which isn't that great because... they aren't the best "jazzists". Here's an mp3 if anyone likes Scandinavian nu-jazz with Bb bass clarinet soloes. |

Is that any good? I held it up for ten seconds at Borders on Thursday, then put it back into the "If you like Buena Vista Social Club..." display out of fear that the white marketing man would never rape another area of world music.
Konono ;_; |
it's pretty good. i bought it in the used bin because the cover looked tasty but found out that it was also a really nice album
expanding musical horizons ittt |

M83's (really, Anthony Gonzalez) Digital Shades Vol. 1 is Before The Dawn Heals Us stripped of any concept and slathered in layers of synth. Any new m83 is a good thing though, so I can't complain. It's hard to write about m83 without sounding pitchforkian. If you like shoegaze or "newgaze" there's no reason not to check it out. _________________

I've been listening to Pet Sounds a lot lately. I've got nothing to say about that album that hasn't already been said ad nauseum.
Unrelated, but amazing:

FM3 has the loops available for download, but you don't get the kitschy plastic and speaker entropy. _________________

Ok, I found them. I also downloaded The Inspirational Sounds of Muslimgauze. "Fatah Guerrilla" is absolute genius.
M83's new ep is pretty good. More dance-y than usual, but it's still got that distinctive M83 sound. The remix included is trash, though. I am really excited for Saturday = Youth. _________________

Easily M83's best album yet. It's a synthy, bombastic, cheesy masterpiece. _________________

The rerecorded SMiLE version of "Good Vibrations" is so terrible. _________________

It's hard to ignore how Wilson's voice has aged. Making the vocals so prominent did not do him any favors. :( _________________

Should I be excited about Pacific Ocean Blue? I don't hate the songs Dennis Wilson wrote for Sunflower, but they weren't the highlights of the album for me.

I went to the Snoop Dogg/311 concert in Chula Vista. It was absolutely terrible.
I also went to the Electric Daisy Carnival. Tens of thousands of people rolling and dancing to electronic music started out great but after two or three hours, everyone started acting like dicks. _________________

If you can only own one high school funk band compilation album it should probably be this one. _________________
