I enjoy his lyrics, except on The Fragile and With Teeth which were lyrically weak.
Downward Spiral is still his most amazing work, though.
PS, I still haven't heard this yet, I have to get my bandwidth back first. |

| Yeah, The Fragile is probably my favourite album musically, but too much of the lyrics feel forced. I remember reading that he didn't even want to have any lyrics on the album, or atleast minimal lyrics which would have been cool. |

So I've been listening to the new Qua EP, Silver Red:
It's pretty great! If you like experimental, not quite ambient but totally awesome music (I don't know how to define it), check it out.
The following is a link to probably my favourite track off the EP:

You may have heard of Qua before. He provided the soundtrack for Paul Robertson's Kings Of Power 4 Billion%, and I've previously posted the music video (animated by Paul Robertson) for Devils Eyes, off his previous album:
If you like what you hear, head to www.quamusic.com and buy some of his stuff. It's brilliant and well worth it. |

| It's good! The sound is similar to the one found in Painting Monsters, but it has progressed a bit. He sounds much more confident, but the other hand it's not quite as daring with its experimentation. If you liked Painting Monsters, it's definitely worth a purchase. |

Do you like Boards of Canada? Would you like some music that sounds similar but not quite like Boards of Canada? Then you should listen to some stuff from Hidden Music Records!
http://www.hiddenmusic.co.uk/releases/symbolic/
They have released a few albums/singles/eps for free. The latest one is posted above and I have found it quite enjoyable... perfect for a rainy sunday, which just happens to be the exact kind of day it is today.
Redpoint (I can only assumed they are named after that one BoC track) also have a few things up there for free. They provided a couple tracks for Space Giraffe and that's how I found out about this label.
Usually I hate dudes copying other peoples styles so blatantly, but it's not as bad as Godsmack or Halo in Reverse because it's just chillin' music and no retarded lyrics and singing. |

| The new Ohgr is much better than the second album, but still not as good as the incredible first album. It's more interesting, in a way, because it's quite different from his previous stuff. |

Attention Australians living in SYDNEY or MELBOURNE. You should totally go see QUA:
I saw him play last night in my city, and it was fucking awesome. Rocked my socks off, even though it's not really rock. More like, totally awesome music. Mountains in the Sky were also fantastic. They're both synth and percussion heavy, with a bit of guitar for good measure. Oh, and intstrumental. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I got to speak to Qua briefly after the show when I went to buy some MERCH, I think he was mostly being polite to me since he seemed to have lots of friends he wanted to talk to, but it was still cool. Check 'em out.
Oh yeah, the tour is to promote their latest albums. The new Qua is rad, it's a very different sound from his previous stuff... the first single is on his myspace:

To be honest, that track is far from my favourite, but it should give you an idea of what to expect. And here is Moutains in the Sky, again the first single is up here:

Man! Fuck you! EDIT: That is, lucky you!
Also, d'you prefer 'Silver Red' or 'Q&A'? I haven't really listened to the latter enough yet to decide! |
I think I prefer Q&A, it fits my current mindset and is just a lot of fun to listen to. Red Silver is also a really nice album, but it's weaker than his first two, I feel. |

| Karmabomb, my first album, is now available for immediate download and contains 10 tracks ranging from ambient to breakbeat, drum & bass to ass-kicking video game. |

The album is free (though he exchanges gifts for donations) and is pretty awesome. Like the latest Qua, it takes experimental electronic music and infuses it with pop sensibilities, ending up with an album that's both interesting and entertaining.
The artist is MAD into videogames, and there is a clear influence of videogame music in his tracks, but it never actually sounds like videogame music, which is definitely a good thing and is why I enjoy it.
So yeah, check it out, dawgs. |
