OK, see, otakupunkx, I actually agree with you that the latest My Chemical Romance album is good, but the funny thing is that it isn't about all that stuff you listed in your post at all. I mean, their last album, yeah totally was, and as long as you thought it was a joke, it was decent fun. Their last album is surprisingly moee...umm...upbeat? It might have a happy ending? It certainly is from the mid to late 70's.

They certainly are on my guilty pleasure list. As are Valient Thorr, who might have the best band name ever.

OK Joe. They blatantly and knowingly rip off 70s bands in a way that is sometimes glorious. It is nice and catchy music that has some what dark lyrics but not in any way the shit OtakuPunkX mentioned. It's a concept album about dying with cancer. It probably isn't going to be upbeat. A lot of it does sound nice though. Most of the album is more "Nobody Loves Me" more than "I hate You DAD!" The more I think about it the more that the comments expressed in this thread are pretty deadset wrong.

Yeah, pretty much. I always imagine it as a pretty funny Broadway musical, but one with a lot of Queen in it.

Well, I mean, the last song (not counting the little extra thingee) seemed pretty positive, given the whole theme of the album.

Live Killers is still my favorite Queen live album. The intro alone makes it worth it.

I think it might be the last good weezer album. They have had some decent songs since then, but never an album.

I have been listening to a lot of Edguy lately and smiling a lot. Thank you, Germany. This is the best music to play wrestling games to ever made.

as the new sig and avatar would indicate, I am listening to a lot of Gary Numan lately, specifically the copy of Replicas I picked up in Louisville, an album I had a mad love affair with freshman year of college and feel wonderful to have back.

wait, with teeth was a comback? from a three year abscence and non break up?

Also, I don't mind the new Pumpkins album. Not great or anything, but there are a few good moments on it.

DEVO! not that they made that album, but for some reason tehy end up there to start with and then become new wave if you want to be stupid about classifications.

remain in light is a goddamn good album though.

Shit, was no age that band at the battles show, because if so they were like a bad high school rock-off band that really hoped it could be the white stripes, and banked on the hipster kids in the crowd wanting to like something before anyone else did to enjoy their crap. such a bad live show that if battles hadn't blown my mind i might have wanted to fight someone in a way that ends badly.

Yeah, the Sunn 0))) albums are all actually interesting, though the tonal shifts between them can be a bit strange. White 2, for example is a lot less dark than Black One.

I really loved the newest Earth album, The Bees Made Honey in the Lions Skull, but it is like drone western if you can think of that. Great album though.

Yeah, personally I don't know a lot of drone, coming to it backasswardsly through Boris (Dronevil is a really excellent album if you set it up though) to Sunn O))) and Earth.

Earth is interesting in how much they've (OK, well, he's) gotten away from making dronemetal into the weird western/gospel vibe of the last album, which like I said I am in love with. Miami Morning Coming Down II (Shine) is like the perfect song sometimes, really.

I will definitely be looking into the stuff listed here though, for sure.
