I guess I wasn't on drugs? Perhaps drugs are the answer for an enjoyable Boom Bip show. But shit, that type of act always bores me. |
I'll keep that in mind. Heck i'll probably just get drunker if its boring.
Don't suppose anyone here is going to Glastonbury this year (i am)? |

I just bought Enter Kentaro. on first listen i give it a 7/10. I expect it to rise to an 8 by the end of the week.
Im gonna go see Krush vs Kentaro at the end of May i think..
The Boom Bip gig was interesting. They (he had 2 other people with him) sounded a bit daft punky in places.. There was a lot of synth and it wasn't what i expected at all! I'll probably get a copy of the new EP later on..
The supporting bands were pretty kickass - Wild Beasts and Half Cousin..
Go forth and listen! |

yeah, my colleague brought an edan cd in a while back, t'was a good listen..
I only find certain elements of anticon creepy.... cloudDead is pretty freaked out.. DoseOne's voice is also pretty odd, but after seeing him live with the rest of subtle, the fear subsided.. Anyone that wears plastic forks round their neck is not to be feared.
Why is pretty mellow and amusing most of the time? no? |

TV on the Radio are great. I saw them in London a while ago, just before they released Return to Cookie Mountain. Their support act Celebration were also full of energy.
Arcade Fire should be playing at Glastonbury this year.. Im pretty hyped for that.
Any impressions on the new Bjork album?
Im still hooked on CSS, and have just introduced Amon Tobin's great Foley Room album to my regular playlists. |

I listened to a few Bjork tracks last night. It seems more "accessible" than some of her other stuff I've tried to listen to.
Anyone a fan of Dizzee Rascal? His new album is out this week..Got a pretty good review in Timeout, if that means anything.. I bought his Sirens track off emusic.. There are some odd guitar-ry bits in it, but I kinda like that. |

So wrong it is RIGHT |
hey
my girlfriend (see avatar) knows those people
they're not bad |
cool...im gonna try catch em if they play live in London sometime this year, that is..without Gwen Stefani headlining.
I've been listening to El-P's Collecting the Kid album a fair amount today. I think I like it as much as Fantastic Damage.. lots more than "I'll SLeep when you're dead" (though that should go without saying).
http://flufftronix.com/ <- grab the spring mix from this page...There are a few good tracks in the mix, including the Rocky Theme being mixed into Debonair Samir's Theme (around the 36min mark...). Thats kinda awesome. |

I acquired a copy of Dizzee Rascal's album...there's certainly a lot more budget behind it now. I think its got that slightly over produced taint to it.
Yesterday I read a bit about his mentor/"backs", Wiley, so I'm trying out some of his albums now. Wiley's stuff is more reminiscent of the usual self-big-up tunes that I usually avoid, lacking the cheekiness of the Rascal's efforts.
I also just got Cannibal Ox's Cold Vein, which im quite enjoying.
There also was a short newspaper paragraph on a band called Asobi Seksu. At first glance I thought they were cashing in on Deerhoof's look - I've not listened to their stuff yet - anyone got opinions on 'em? |

| Did Deerhoof's singer constantly flip the crowd off during the gig? Thats what happened when I saw 'em last month. It was kinda amusing. |

| I saw City of Violence yesterday. I was looking for one of the Korean hip hop tracks they use in one of the montage sequences... and stumbled across Drunken Tiger. Im not sure if I listen to them for the comedy value or because they're actually good.. |

I bought a Birdy Nam Nam album. Its really good listening.
I've also started to listen to a British band called Maximo Park, after seeing 'em perform a great live set at Glastonbury. |

hm i've tried posting about it on the selectbutton mp3 mailing list thing, but I don't think I'm allowed :(
Anyways, I think you all need to try out Gorky Zygotic Mynci's "Spanish Dance Troupe" album (or just the track, also called that). Its perfect for a sunny day/drive.. Think slightly quirky welsh indie rock with hints of folk & pop.. |

the stuff from their previous albums is even better! :)
Whats your take on their new album, if you've listened to it at all? I find myself to be in two states of mind.. sometimes I think "bah, more of the same", but on other occasions I actually enjoy a couple of the tracks, like Super Massive Blackholes & Knights of Cydonia. |

what gigs have people been to recently?
I saw Aesop Rock & Rob Sonic last week.. Great stuff and they're pretty down to earth, which was nice.
Im gonna go n see Polysics this Saturday..I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to their music, but hell..it was only ten quid a ticket. |

I've missed about 5 of his shows now.. he keeps playing in various spots around London and I always manage to miss 'em!
I've heard he doesn't play on a stage, but opts to play in the crowd itself!! You lot experienced that? Does it feel like a performance, or more like a happening party night?! |

ah, this year's was my second glastonbury evar.
i was at the dance lounge before Jay Z came on. Cadence Weapon played to what was probably a crowd of 10! poor dude look so bummed out before it started, but it was a all good fun.
Crystal Castles was amusing - I was pissed that they stopped the set after 4 songs. Don't think any other act got the crowd going as mental as they did.. I was also a bit annoyed that the singer decided to whisper the lyrics instead of singing 'em!
Dizzee Rascal was awesome as always, and the special appearance from Franz Ferdinand was surprisingly good too.
Im so brown from the sun.. Fucking awesome! |

Whilst i like few of the tracks on the MGMT album, I can't help but be disappointed everytime I see a live performance video. They stink!
Currently going back to my Blur & Pulp albums. |

The real question is when you stopped sucking balls :P
Does anyone still listen to the Prodigy, and if so whats the general view on their new Invader Must Die album? I'm really liking it for my tube journey to work on Monday mornings, but I think I might still be stuck 10 years in the past with regards to dance music.. So, are they still relevant? |
