We won.
By god we won.
I am still stunned, and it is 1:21 eastern time.
greatest catch in Bowl history?
maybe.
greatest upset in NFL history?
possibly.
Biggest win of my small 23 year life?

I will say that it was a good game. I mean, I DEFINITELY did not see this coming. I predicted the Pats to beat the crap out of the Giants and... uh... well yeah, didn't happen.
Awesome game though. Man, I wish all football games were that good. Really awesome defensive games, and pretty weak offensive games. Also, it was joyous to see Brady get the shit knocked out of him. It's aggravating to see a QB who never gets tackled, much less pressured. Plus, a Manning has won a Superbowl back to back. That's probably a first. _________________

This game just ended up reminding me of when the Broncos beat the Packers.
Before that game, I could not believe how the entire media thought the Packers were so much better than the Broncos. I knew the Broncos would win. Even if they didn't, I didn't see how the Packers were so superior in any fashion.
From that game on, I've always found it very easy to see how underdogs can win in the NFL. Nothing strikes me as a massive upset. Nothing really surprises me. If you can do one thing well--and if you're in the playoffs, you likely can--you can win against anyone. The Giants had a dominant defensive line. It won them the Super Bowl.
Eli is still something of a head scratcher as far as I'm concerned. I think he can go either way. He's not particularly accurate or mobile. He makes questionable decisions. On the other hand, he's incredibly clutch and it seems to me all the sentiment in the last few years of maybe the team not being behind him boiled down to Tiki Barber not being behind him. This year, Eli had this team. I think next year is when we find out what kind of QB he really is. For what it's worth, his performance today reminded me a lot of Brady's in '01. That's worked out fairly well for Tom. Giants fans, meanwhile, have to feel pretty damn happy that they managed to win a Super Bowl with the question of Eli's mastery of the position still up in the air. |

eli is clutch, and tom brady is not.
i think that is really what it came down to. brady was sweating that giants defense, and eli was cold as ice down to the final play. |

This is not true in the slightest.
I mean, maybe you meant to type "Peyton Manning" instead of "Tom Brady" there. |

| Tom Brady didn't choke today, and even if he had, he has a large body of evidence that would suggest it an aberration. |

If the sports shows were to believed, everyone in America wanted "history to be made" during the game and for the Pats to win.
But it seemed to me that almost all of America wanted them to lose.
Kind of amazing to see, though in a way it isn't; this season the Pats just didn't have that old "humble team play" feel. They always seemed like cocky, arrogant bastards regardless of whether they were, and their decision to go for it on 4th and 13 is perhaps what sums that all up. |

I am always happy to see Bill Belicheck lose. He was part of the whole 'let's make the browns awful so that we can make more money by moving them' campaign, and yeah, fuck him.
I have to agree with you though, taidan, in that I didn't know anyone who wanted to pats to win, at all. Like, people who didn't even watch football didn't want them winning. |

I feel as if the disdain for the Patriots was not merely due to the fact that they won so much; no matter how much some claimed that this was still the humble, united team that won the last few years, it simply wasn't true. A team still no doubt, but the Pats just bled arrogance during the season, and showed their true colors last night. Belichick's leaving the field quickly, players inviting Giants members to their clelebratory party's before the G-Men scored. They felt perfect and invincible, the idea of a loss was foreign to them.
And then Brady was put in the same spot that so many other QB's were in against New England. They just couldn't do it. |

Just fantastic. Nice to see we can get David and Goliath stories outside of the Mighty Ducks.
I nearly hit the roof on that one Brady takedown, with the one guy on his throwing arm and then the other on his back. Man. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

| Does it make me a bad person that I kinda wanted the Pats to win? I've simply been enamored with Brady for the last six years. As something of a football connoisseur this team has always been worth looking at. |
