Me too. I am getting pretty sick of the giggly internet humor about the game, because I think a lot of people are going to eat crow once it comes out.

Thats the only vibe I think a person could get out of it. I personally think it looks pretty weak. I prefer my fighting games to have characters that actually look like they could stand a chance in a fist fight. |
Well I am a pretty big fan of the GGXX series.I really like the character designs and the art style and the game just generally plays pretty crisply, but it isn't very accessible because I found that there's a point in skilled progression that forces you to memorize frames so you can cancel them for MASSIVE DAMAGE. I'm really irritated about that style of high level play, so I basically only follow it casually.
As for the characters looking like they could hold their own in a fist fight, that point's a bit moot. There's only one character. It could very well be the Rose or Mai of the game. Everyone in fighting games is a fucking magic user anyway, so whatever. The issue doesn't lie in whether or not they look like they'd be effective in real life (at least for me.) since most fighting games are so far removed from it, and the characters are just that, characters.
Anyway, I doubt that it'll be anything that Blue Blaze isn't, but it still might be fun. I'm certainly not going to go out of my way to play it though.

I notice that a lot of the combos that are in the trial challenges are completely inconvenient. 1 frame links and other impossible to perform unless you have pristine execution tasks. I spose it's a decent way to get a handle on a character and the game itself but the difficulty progression of them if you're a beginner (or hell, if you just aren't pro level) is really rather inappropriate. It should spend more time teaching you how to do cool and useful stuff like FADC blocked shoryukens and fireball parrying, not nigh impossible normal links. Hell, I don't even think it has all of ryu's bread and butter combos in there! It should also definitely spend some more time telling you about option select, because that is such a huge part of the game.

safe jumping and focus attack intricacies are pretty much the only two things that I'd need practice with, but focus attacks especially I feel need a special emphasis put on them since it's such a huge part of the game also. Teching throws is pretty elementary but yeah, nowhere in the game does it tell you the option select for that either.

So I heard from my evo/srk friend that That Announcement is going to be a sort of extension to TvC-- shonen jump vs. capcom or something of that nature. Not many specifics were given. As much as I am skeptical about this hearsay, I really also don't want it to be true.

I think I am going to try to learn to play iron tager and maybe litchi, though I haven't checked out any of the sword wielding characters yet. rachel alucard looks pretty badass!

Juri's bnb combo is c.LK LK c.LK EX pinwheel
It's really easy to build up super with her because you don't have to release her kick fireballs in order to get meter off of them.
c.MK, MP, c.MP are all really good pokes
MK can stuff focus attacks neatly
andddddd c.FP is just great for anti-air
j.MP (land) j.MP (land) pinwheel is a fun and reminiscent of arc system works games combo

Er, all the shotos play really differently. It doesn't work like that. Flowchart Ken is terrible against anyone with a brain.

Are you ken or guile? I actually have no idea. Guile is bad at footsies and uses flash kick way too much, he tends to overextend himself and attack when he should block/option select throw (especially when ken is waking up), and also wastes his EX. Ken has passable fundamentals and footsies, but he drops his combos fairly consistently and doesn't know how to effectively punish. Ken needs to take advantage of the fact that tatsu has fireball invincibility. Neither of them attempt throws enough. Neither of them attempt crossups AT ALL. Guile's blocklink is nonexistent. Ken's is marginally less so. Didn't see one bar of EX being used for anything other than chucking plasma. Way too much plasma being chucked by Ken, also.
