Does anyone remember when I made this image?
Well I just wanted to say that, I, um, made a ROM hack version of it. Enjoy.
I hereby declare Super Mario Bros. Romhacking Month a success. |

Hey, this is pretty nifty. Wish you could make the sky actually look like that, but that's technology limitations for you. I do like the colours you chose, though.
EDIT:
That was fun! The indoor/water levels pretty much play the same (but look nifty), but the scenery adds some extra challenge to the outdoor levels. I had to base my movements on my hazy memories of enemy positions, level 8-3 was great because of all the castle walls blinding you... the hammer bros at the end were a total bitch! _________________

Pretty awesome. Maybe if one were to hack the All Stars version, one could make gradient backgrounds? I know that this would probably mean a lot more work than is reasonable, though. _________________ The Ants Parade. |

That looks pretty neat.
I'd like to take the time here to point out two recent, similar ROM hacks:
Super Grayscale Bros.
The Pixel Kingdom
I haven't played any of these yet, though. |

This is really great. The salmon color of the first level was a great choice. This would have been great to have in this show. It's traveling to Philadelphia in July actually. If you're interested, I might be able to see about getting it in. Not sure about that, but it might be worth a shot. _________________

L that is awesome. ^__^
is it by choice that the question-mark blocks and fireballs are not black? _________________

| It is just twilight, after all. Fire is bright. Glowing treasure glows. |

I was going to comment that you forgot to make the fireballs black even though I had already seen with the coins and ? blocks that not everything was blacked out. I think it's telling that my first reaction was that you forgot though. Blacking out the fire and leaving the coins and ? blocks as colored would make a lot of sense. Not a literal sense of it being twlight, but more that the coins and ? blocks are so iconic and you kind of need them to be colored. I also thought it looked odd that the text in Bowser's Castle wasn't black. Bowser's castle has the lava, the spinning fire things, and the text all in different colors, so the theme gets kind of lost with all those different colors. _________________

| You're right... I should probably change that text to black. I wonder why I didn't. |
