Yeah but how many of those blogs, books, and mainstream news editorials have the moviegoing American public been reading as well? _________________

Not that they're idiots, just that most of them are already busy enough with their own lives that it's hard for them to find time to take a good long look at these kinds of issues. You can rightfully spill all the internet bile you want over the likes of Micheal Moore but the fact that he's managed to explain the issue (healthcare has been run by self interested corporations in American since the 1970s) in such a concise format does more for even putting the issue itself into the greater public mindspace than all the blogs and articles and editorials ever could. If anything you should be thankful that people who see the film might be inclined to start doing their own research on the matter, thus expanding the overall awareness.
If it gets more people asking questions to those in power then I don't see how that can be anything but a good thing overall.
What I took away from watching it was that:
1.Healthcare in our country is fucked so we need to try something else.
2.Socialized medicine seems to be just as valid a system of healthcare as our own, though admittedly Moore glosses over any actual problems that do in reality exist with such a system.
3.Those aren't our only two options though. If we could elect leaders who aren't so easily corrupted by money we might be able to pass legislation that makes it harder for the corporations that run our healthcare system to stop screwing the public every chance they get.
4.Nothing's perfect but if you don't try then you've done a greater disservice to the common good than if you tried your best and failed hard. _________________

I think it's silly that Moore got away with making a movie on health care without once bringing up the moral hazard vs. adverse selection debate, let alone the ever-relevant RAND experiment. From the sound of what you got out of the movie, he didn't explain the issue very well at all. "The corporations done it!" is a pretty facile point of issue.
On the other hand, here we are discussing health care, so maybe you're right. _________________

| I think his timing is bad. The Election is getting the discussion on healthcare going anyways. He should have put this out like 2 years ago or two years from now, if things hadn't improved as he wants. |

You wouldn't guess (non UK-ers), but she's dead now (and her boyfriend). From a coke binge (but not the boyfriend, who hung himself).
