| No way, I want the tactile response of a controler for a game like this. |

In that sense, I'm a little surprised some of you are so concerned about music. Kinda think wind, breath, heartbeats and piercing silence are optimal for this game.
Though I guess pretending she has an iPod up there works too. |

This is seriously the first FPS where analog movement is far more important than pseudo-1:1 aiming. No qualms about buying this on PS3 whatsoever. I don't even want to get Fallout 3 on a console fercrissake. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

Fuck this is awesome.I downloaded the demo today. The movement is fast and fun. I find movement is slow and unfun in a lot of 3d games, this is great.
I'm looking forward to this. |

Playing again.
Guys the pause menu has an option to skip the training. The dialogue can be turned off, and all cutscenes can be skipped.
I think I'm in love. |

I agree. I could see myself playing music during a time trial, but I am loving the hum of the city, breathing, and hands and feet against man-made structures.
The color design and art direction in this game are excellent. I think this will be a buy for me. Wasn't convinced until I played the demo.
The focus on treating hostile forces as just another obstacle, rather than something to pulverize, is refreshing in the gaming zeitgeist sea of Gears, Dead Space, Fallout, Resistance, etc. _________________

Presumably because its more powerful hardware can push better graphics.
That's only true if developers take account the PS3's weird architecture, though. I guess the assumption is that this is a high-profile enough game that they did? Or someone knows something I don't. _________________ Let's Play, starring me. |

this game used PS3 as the lead platform, is all.
i think there's exclusive DLC too?
plus you know how loads of cross-platform games have ads where at the end it says NOW AVAILABLE ON XBOX 360? this one has the same thing but for PS3. so! _________________

Yes, it's pretty well documented and everything! I don't own a PS3 or an IBM server OR a dev license but I can learn all about the Cell processor for $0! It runs a UNIX variant! Dudes make Games for it All the Time! |

Leading development on the PS3 allows them to ship a more consistent product. Its becoming pretty common knowledge that this works out better for everyone, because the 360 doesn't have too much problem with ported PS3 code and second-hand middleware. Its not necessarily gonna push more from the 360 or something, though a couple of devs have tried to say that. Whereas the opposite situation typically ends in a rushed/lesser product on PS3, or a later release.
While the end result may mean that the PS3 version ends up running or looking slightly better, its not because its way more powerful or something. Its just because its being properly coded for, for once!

Can work in favour for the 360 sometimes though. Apparently Pro Race Driver GRID was developed with the PS3 as the lead. The 360 still came out the better product as there was less screen tear and slowdown plus better lighting while the PS3 version still had some visual issues and lighting problems. _________________

I could see the PS3 having better textures, and the six axis thing is nice, but since I'm playing on an SDTV (¡gasp!), it doesn't make much difference to me.
though i kind of want little big planet, almost enough to make me buy a PS3. almost.
i am hearing the actual game is kind of short though, around 10 chapters? If the demo is any indication of actual chapter length, that makes me a bit reserved about going to spend the $60 for it. Though, after she jumps on the heli, Faith looks down to the next building below and sees some more red planks going down roofs, so maybe there's more to the level? _________________

It looks like the remake's Korean, which may provide some insight into the vapidity of the character design. I like the little details. Impossibly pointy chin! Highlights & Xtra hairgel!
Also: Kotaku has apparently locked itself in the bathroom to have a wank. _________________

It's a good job we tend to ignore Asians, then.
Also:
Some worrying things in this impressions video, such as the inability to combo into disarmaments. _________________

I'm more excited with what's coming after this game than the game itself. This is Mario 64 for the Playstation generation.
Why it reminds me of Sonic is curious... _________________ interdimensional |

Yeah, rolling seems to be trouble for a lot of people.
Of course it doesn't help when you're trying to do it the wrong way--holding L2 midair and flicking the controller forward does not allow you to roll, it's either hit L2 or shake the controller at the appropriate time. My brother had this problem.
Otherwise, the timing seems to be simply when you hit the ground. You might be able to look down with the right stick if that would help. Practice is key, I suppose. |
