|
|
I was not going to post this because I thought I had the problem solved when I sent back in my original Wii for this, but my new one is doing it too!
Has anyone ever had a problem with their Wii blacking out for long periods of times inbetween channels or simply blacking out and not going to the next channel? Mine has been doing that. Perhaps not a big problem in itself but it's still annoying and might not be the root of an even bigger problem that I have yet to discover.
I'm wondering if it might be my memory card or some corrupt save file as those are the only things that are common between the two systems (minus the sensor bar, power, remotes, etc).
Has this happened to anyone else? |

Hm, my Wii sometime takes a little while when loading up a Channel, but I never noticed it to be more than 5 seconds long. _________________

This happened to me on my launch wii so I had nintendo replace it. So far the new one has worked perfectly...
Either way if the second one is doing it too I'd just call nintendo and get them to replace it again. _________________

ok, so it is a fixable problem then.
Mine did it this morning exiting out of the Mii Channel. I'll just send my old one back, contact them again and ask them to replace this one as well.

I did buy some VC games =(
Also my elebits gamefile is untransferrable!!
But, I've decided that I am going to send Nintendo their replacement console back and make them send me a repair box and ship it off to them for repair. It will take a month, yes, but it will be better than going through the roullette again. |

If you're having trouble with the Mii channel it could be a problem with the Miis on your Wiimote. Miis are stored in a small block of flash memory in the Wiimote which the Wii has to download over bluetooth by talking to your controller - if there is a problem doing that for some reason the console could potentially just lock up while waiting for the download to complete.
Entirely speculation, though. |

My Mii Channel blacked out for a couple minutes the other day, after I bought it back from a friends house.
When I went in it, I had about an extra 40 miis in my parade and about twenty or so waiting for me in my plaza, more came when I went back to the channel a moment later.
So I'm guessing that had something to do with the long blackout. |

I've never encountered this.
I've noticed faint, regularly spaced vertical lines on the screen while playing GCN games, though. 'Sbout it. _________________

I have exactly the same problem as OP. I've been hoping firmware updates would fix it, but no dice so far. Maybe it's worth the trade-in.
Toups, was that the only thing wrong with your original unit? I thought you had significantly greater issues than that. |

I had all kinds of things wrong with it but as soon as I told them that it freezes between channels they were like "okay we'll replace it."
Gamecube controllers wouldn't work, for one thing. Also it would freeze while playing zelda and I had this bizarre slowdown in wii sports. Lord knows what other hilarious things I would've encountered had I kept it around. _________________

I think my Wii just broke.
Does that sound like I'm going into labor?
Anyway. I've been replaying Eternal Darkness, so I cut on the Wii and selected the GCN channel. I was then given a blue screen with COMPONENT 2 in the upper right corner. This, of course, is not a function of the Wii, but of my television screen, which means that it isn't receiving a signal.
Yet it IS receiving a signal. If I turn the television off and on quickly, I can see the screen that I'm supposed to see briefly, before it is painted over by COMPONENT 2.

| No, but now I'm afraid to play Eternal Darkness on mine. Especially since that sounds almost like something Eternal Darkness would do, just to fuck with you. |

Yes, it does sound like something Eternal Darkness would have done. The first time I played ED, I had a pretty old television with a volume knob, so the "madness effects" didn't fool me. If anything, they made me kind of excited! "Perhaps my television has discovered its SUPER SENTAI POWER DIGITAL TELEVISION FORM!"
HENSHIN!?
Now, though, I have a better television. So it gives me a little bit of a surprise.
I've determined that the problem lies in the composite cables I bought from Nintendo a while back. Gonna have to get 'em swapped out now. _________________
