Didn't Microsoft go first last year also? Sony is last, so they are going to have to do some amazing things to counter all of the news Microsoft and Nintendo are going to generate and get over all of the bad press they've gotten before.

I heard Capcom is going to be announcing 3 or 4 big games. I'm expecting a new Onimusha, since it's supposedly one of Capcom's most profitable IPs and we haven't seen a next-gen entry. The other will be a new Power Stone, Rival Schools, Megaman Legends, etc. etc. whatever you want but they probably aren't going to make.

And we're off!(engadget link because nintendo is provably hammered right now). Surprised they didn't went and released the Wiimote SP.

EDIT : If this is what i think it is, it's basically solving the "you can't make a proper lightsaber game" problem.

i...don't know about that.

like, if you need to buy an add-on thing for specific (presumably 'hardcore') games that support it, surely most people would just buy whatever microsoft are doing for the 360?

could be fun though! presumably they'll have some interesting stuff designed for it.

Rumor has it Capcom's going to announce Dead Rising 2. We'll see how that goes. If they do announce it I hope it's set in an amusement park.

It's totally possible that the PS3 and X360 are just making Wii-based positioning, and that the added, let's say, internal gyroscope isn't featured, leaving both companies running around trying to spin this announcement.

MTV announces the full Rock Band 2 track list. No Freezepop. Which is a break in tradition for HMX.

MS Conference has started. IGN has the best feed.

Edit: Starting with Fallout 3. WOOOOO!

Running Edit: F3 looks underwhelming. First ever live gameplay of RE5 now.

RE5 Gameplay is alright. March 13th Globaly though.

Petey is up with fable 2. Its finished by the way acording to Pete. Also, it starts with you getting shit on. I wish I was joking.

Fable 2 doesnt look good aside from co-op shenanigans. Gears 2 now.

Gears 2 looks INCREDIBLE. 5-Player Co-Op also.

Oh god. Avatars and a new Dashboard. Oh god.

The Avatars are by RARE.

PORTAL: STILL ALIVE JESUS CHRIST EXCLUSIVE

Also, a South Park Game

Netflix on 360. MS are really killing PSN.

I've just been having Engadget's text update page automatically reload every few minutes and I check back on it to see if there's anything interesting.

http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/14/engadget-and-joystiq-live-from-microsofts-e3-2008-keynote/

So, Microsoft revealed a new 360 dashboard is coming in the Fall. That picture makes it look like the new Vista window switcher, and doesn't actually look that great. Maybe it's better if you see it in motion.

Edit: Microsoft also announced that they are the best, so I guess that ends all of the arguments about the console wars.

10:39 am PT: You can play stealthily, aggressively and... oh, Todd has gone for the aggressive route. He pulls out a rifle, and targets the body parts of a nearby enemy. He fires a shot, with a slow-mo shaky cam shot showing limbs exploding violently. We're going to like this game. Some cute marching band music plays in the background, rendering a truly surreally violent encounter. Todd switches to a laser rifle and targets the torso of another enemy. Pow, splatter, smile.
10:40 am PT: The world's scale is enormous, with dilapidated strcutures and roads covering the entire field of view. Todd whips out a rocket launcher and wreaks havoc, followed by an EMP grenade which shuts down a robotic baddie.
10:41 am PT: "You can be a good person, a bad person and anyone in-between. A helicopter lands, kicking up dust. The "fatman," a mini nuclear bomb catapult is the response. The camera follows the warhead in slow-mo all the way to its destination. "It's a pretty effective weapon."

is Fallout 3 supposed to sound like an FPS?

Maybe not!

11:45 am PT: And yes, it really is called Lips. Developed by Inis -- Keiichi Yano steps onto the stage, hoping that we're "ready to have some fun." Lips is the first game that lets you sing from your own songs. You'll be able to plug in your Zune! Also, your iPod. "Lips breaks new ground by being the first game to let you sing from your own music collection. Lips features wireless, motion sensitive mikes." Now Duffy is singing her own track.

So nobody has to worry about DRM because nobody will be buying music DLC or future games when all of the music is coming from you.

Considering Sony touted FFXIII as an exclusive, I'm sure they must have already known about losing the exclusivity. I just wonder if they have anything to recover from it.

12:07 am PT: Don: "Wow, that's incredible. FF13 is an astonishing addition to our growing away of RPG titles... it joins a long list of former PlayStation franchises finding a new home on Xbox 360. Enjoy the rest of E3!"

Ouch. And they've got an entire day to themselves, so the news sites and forums can fester with Microsoft news alone.

Yes, they certainly wouldn't put the demo on one of their other shitty full-price RPGs to push extra sales.

Also here's five minutes of Fallout 3 gameplay: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/36197.html

I am interested in this.

Looks like Resident Evil 4, yeah. Right down to the "enemy grabs his face after getting shot in the face" animation. I would totally play a demo of this as well.

This is turning out to be a pretty loltacular E3 so far guys. Let's hope the laughs continue from Sony and Nintendo.

According to MS. Portal: Still Alive is exclusive to 360 and wont be appearing on Steam.

So both PS3 and PC Fanboys have been trolled. Glorious.

Which is sort of odd. Wasn't Valve just recently touting a couple of weeks ago about how PC is the true next-generation system and the future of games? Did Orange Box do a lot better on the 360 or something? Or Microsoft could have thrown a lot of money at them.

Or it's nothing that special.

FFXIII is a big fucking deal. Not sure how much I care. I mean I'll play it but I'm not frothing. I also wish GAF would load.

Gears of War 2 looks fucking insane. Fallout 3 looks kind of bad. RE5 looks a lot like RE4 but whatever. Fable 2 didn't have a great showing but I'm still looking forward to it. (This stuff is up on GameTrailers now.)

Complete RB2 track list is pretty fuck yeah

www.bungie.net has a countdown (one day eighteen hours) in Halo font and colors. I wish they were working on a new IP.

New Galaga by the Pac Man CE team is pretty fucking exciting

No Alan Wake or Peter Jackson Halo game |:

Apparently the Major Nelson Xbox 360 blog has some news that didn't appear in the Microsoft conference.

Quote:
· Play from hard drive. Copy your games from the game disc and play directly from the hard drive. Not only will the drive not spin, but load times are quicker, as well. Of course, you will still need the disc in the tray to prove you own the game.

· Access Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web. Browse and purchase Marketplace content whenever you want from Xbox.com and it downloads automatically to your console. Purchase that new map, television episode, the latest Xbox LIVE Arcade game or set up a movie to watch when you get home from work.

· Dashboard built into the new Xbox Guide. For everyone who loves the blades interface, it’s not going away; they are now built directly in to the new Xbox guide. Every feature and option is available right from the guide. You can even access your full games library at all times. No matter where you are (in dash or in game), immediately call up your games played list and directly launch a game.

· New display support. Because you asked for it, we are adding 16X10 over VGA or HDMI, and support for 1440x900 or 1680x1050.

Overall though, it seemed a little less than what I was expecting. The only big thing was FFXIII, but only because it means Sony lost an exclusive. There were a few short game demos of games we already knew about, and the few truly "new" news like the new dashboard weren't exactly awe inspiring. E3 just started though, and Bungie's site is counting down to an announcement, so they can still make up for it. I guess they figured the FFXIII annoucement was enough to overshadow Sony for this E3. I sure hope Sony has some big guns ready, because that means more stuff us.

FFXIII 360 not coming to japan. Also development on it only starts when development on the PS3 FFXIII ends.

Party's over. We can all go home now.

Who wants to bet the big Bungie announcement will be some sort of prequel to the Halo series?

Note that localization will also not start until development on the Japanese PS3 version ends. For the markets that are getting a 360 version, nothing's changed. Party continues.
