Holy shit Dylan's Tangled Up In Blue in Rock Band 2? What?

Also, all of that new Dashboard/Live stuff looks neat.

Also most of the games looked boring?

How insane would the Internet go if Konami announce MGS4 on the 360 this Wednesday?

you know what?

metal gear solid 4 fucking sucks, and can go to hell.

it's kingdom hearts 2 starring solid snake, now with semi-realistic gun controls.

as far as i'm concerned, as long as shit like mgs4 is a reason a human being would pay money to purchase a videogame console, no one is winning the "console war".

also, mgs4 has awakened me to the Very Strong Possibility that final fantasy xiii might Violently Suck as well.

and now nintendo is releasing a little plastic click-on nub for the wiimote so that it can actually implement motion controls. for fuck's sake. i hope to jesus it has a bypass port in the bottom, so you can string extra stuff on there. next thing you know they're going to tell me that my nunchuck is obsolete because it doesn't have a bypass port. they're going to release a click-on battery pack to boost the power to the unit so that twelve AA batteries will be enough to power the wiimote, the sensor pack, the nunchuck, and the nunchuk-pass-through head-mounted sensor cap (think "miner hat"). shigeru miyamoto's next megaton game will be a special edition of mario kart wii that requires you to use all these things plus the wii wheel while standing on top of the balance board.

actually, apparently nintendo's big announcement for tomorrow is "wii music". i know this for a fact. not sure if it's a secret or not. if it's supposed to be a secret, WHOOPS! there goes my NDA!

in less than six months time, you too can haul wiimotes over to grandma's bubble ward in the hospital and belligerently shake plastic in hopes that tinny midi renditions of classical music will sound "correct".

meanwhile, microsoft's shameless ripping off of the "spirit of the wii", or whatever the hell else you're supposed to call it, looks pretty good!

i'm going to go ahead and cast a tentative vote of no-confidence in all japanese game publishers; i might revise this later.

anyway.
wait really i had been studiously avoiding all mgs4 media

fuck i thought it was going to be pretty good

ps3 games list:
*little big planet
*fumito ueda 3

And after one ridiculous geek-tirade suddenly you have given up all hope in the result of years of people's hard work?

Wii Music looked pathetic as demonstrated, though it seems a little unclear as to what degree of actual creation, if any, will be allowed outside of these mimeographed midi reenactments. I mean, actually making terrible-sounding songs with ridiculous motion gestures could be fun, but this automatic note-scaled, tempo-locked song-facsimile stuff, yeah not so much.

I mean there isn't anything, you know, interesting about DDR/Guitar Hero - but at the very least they are somewhat rewarding and viscerally engaging.

I mean, I am alright with a new Wii Sports game, that's pretty alright, you guys think that's alright? It is slightly humorous that they have basically admitted the inability of the Wiimote to deliver upon its initial promise. Slightly, though, I mean there is no laughing involved.

But, I mean, what the hell was the deal with the rest of that filth? So, two down, one to go: there has been, gamewise, nothing of real note so far at this years Yearly Videogame Hypefest?

I gather it's by the flOw mob - they're elaborating on that outing's eat-shit-get-bigger-eat-more-and-bigger-shit proposition?

PS3 ownership's panning out not awfully.

This videogame looks so wonderful.

I like the overlayed lines that pop up to tell you the route of the oncoming wave. It's not the same kind of classic refinement that made Pacman CE so wonderful, but it sure does look like a fun videogame to play.

I think Prince of Persia will end up being a pretty fun game to play. But man, wow, everything about the way this guy thinks....that is perhaps hyperbole....the thought process this guy is putting on display here: annoying? pathetic? to be expected?

We have been able, as a team, to abandon archaic gameplay systems: combos, checkpoints, levels - these are all things of the past you see, replacing them with....oh, right, never mind that, yes moving right along.

Our Industry-leading synergy-system provides the user with a highly-focused genre-redefining experience.

Is this guy just a random mouthpeice? Actually involved in the creative process?

Actual not fake quote: "We're aiming for nothing more than re-establishing Prince of Persia as THE benchmark action-adventure game, I mean, not just on any one single console but across the industry. We think we have incredible combat, we think we have incredible acrobatics, you certainly can see we have incredible visuals and we're ready to reclaim the throne."

I mean, the proof is in the pudding, as it has been for ever I guess, but to see, so blatantly, an example of the peice by peice, systems-oriented cookie-cutter thought process that invades so much of game design, it is quite a treat.

Conversely, the BAYONETTA official site has hyperbole and pretension but comes off as being pretty awesome.

Hyperbole and pretension are fine, it is the fact that the "throne" will be "reclaimed" with what amount to IGN review subcategories, a mentality that pervaids every thing said in the interview.

Combos? Pff, juvenile! Gameover screens and checkpoints? We are past that, to be sure! Levels?! What is this 1985?

Our game has Nodes, man, we have moved past.

"I got it, Bill! We'll give the double-jump and continue-screen tits!"

I think the game itself looks fine, you know, I think it will probably be a good game. Again, I don't know who this guy is, could be some marketing guy who's adjusted himself to the whole gamespeak combine? But, I mean, this is the AAA videogame industry's idea of progressivism (might not be a word). To get rid of the combo counter.
