So today I checked out The Gamer's Quarter for the first time in months... and I guess there's not really anything happening over there? A couple of friends of mine started work on a general arts/alt zine a few months ago called Ubuzine, and I guess that's mostly done, though one of them has moved and things I guess are slow if not stopped entirely [for the time being].
The one still here [for a little while longer] really quite likes video games!
I want to start a game zine that'll go around my over-tanned, highway divided city where the hills are for wineries and the cars are increasingly obese. I don't know what it'll be called. After some thought, I think it can be reasonably well done!
So, any suggestions? I'm hella new to this prospect and I don't really have any money to speak openly of. I and he could write and put together some great shit [he worked on and ran a newspaper for some years, which I wrote for last year], but contributors would be What's Really Needed. Local people would be good for ideals and such but I know in my stones that the best content comes from the IC birth canal, and really, "fresher" ideas come from far away.
I haven't talked to him about this yet, so it's definitely up in the air [I literally just thought of this about ten minutes ago], but right now I'm mainly thinking more along the lines of what people might want from this thing. So far the only thing I feel averse to is a comic section. _________________ o-/< --- o-\< --- o-|-| --- o^-<

Got two major players in all the way now. Looking into a third, and then I think it'll be safe to say the ball is rolling. _________________ o-/< --- o-\< --- o-|-| --- o^-< |

I am all for presenting an awesome sense of fashion between myself and my friends, but I think I'll leave the fashion magazine for eden on LPN.
That's a really good idea for a feature section though!
Also, that third major player is also in 100%. This will be rad like Ray Bans and cheese crackers. _________________ o-/< --- o-\< --- o-|-| --- o^-< |

OK - so much time has passed, and many discussions have been had and blah blah blah.
I'm currently throwing together the layout for the first issue - and hopefully what will be a template for future issues.
There's a few people who are submitting article stuff, including a short kind of short-fiction disguised as sociology/video game commentary disguised as a letter to the editor. Also Katamari haiku. There's still a lot of material needed to flesh this out, though, so this is my call for submissions, I guess.
There was a Facebook call-out, but whatever. It's Facebook. [this is the group page btw http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=58604990276 . discussions have been on hiatus since the core group started school again.]
Uhhhh do stuff for me for free? When it's done I'll put a colorized pdf on the net [physical copies will be shitty grainy print with black and white]. _________________ o-/< --- o-\< --- o-|-| --- o^-< |

I could maybe submit an article about nostalgic youthful arcade gaming from a young British perspectice, but I'm not a very journalistic / poetic wrriter.
All I can offer at this time is an obtuse zine title of "brrzzzt blapp" _________________

I've been writing this thing about five months with no video games but Contra 4.
It's pretty terrible so far. _________________
