Star Fox had very good sound design, and the map screen uses a mixture of 2D and 3D. The controller only gets me past the intro screen. People make talking sounds? Impressive technology!

EXPLANATION
=================================
I recently ordered a pile of Super Famicom games based on suggestions made in this thread: http://forums.selectbutton.net/viewtopic.php?t=1002 . Many of the ebay sellers who sell some of the harder to find stuff also have tons of games for ~$1USD + shipping, and as I was already paying hefty combined shipping costs, I decided to also tack on a few games that I wouldn't mind having. One of these was the SFC version of Star Fox.

Many of the games that I received needed a cleaning, but being a regular ebay shopper I'm used to this. The Star Fox cart that I received, however, seems to have a broken Super FX chip. Some of the sprites on the map screen show up (the ship and the lines between the planets), but nothing else. The sound works fine when in game, but the arwing is clearly not flying (I can't crash into the ground, and pressing buttons produces no new sounds).

You guys ever buy broken stuff and manage to have fun with it?

I want to see you crack open this cart. I sorta want to see this snapped off FX chip.

The only broken thing I am having a blast with is Sonic for X360.

I suggest you should record some footage, since I would love to see how broken a game can be if it's not Sonic for the 360.

could be a snes/sfc issue, though if i recall the only thing that sets the apart are plastic tabs. still, they could be wired differently for on-cartridge chips like the nes and famicom.

Nah, I'm playing this SFC cart on an actual SFC.

I will definitely take footage of this later on and also disassemble it for better debugging.

Not another one of these... haven't people learned by now that if you use a company's trademarks in your title and content, they can and will shut you down? Happened to Chrono Trigger Resurrection and Halogen, among others.

Its not on-rails btw, so yeah, the folks behind the game are indeed pretty stupid.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about... http://www.game-warden.com/starfox/.

I doubt that. There are many fan games out there that do this and don't get shut down.

They could always change the name to Star Lynx.
