the original video showing off the gameplay engine caught my interest more than this trailer did.
the descriptions of all the characters feels a little too smart-alecky or self-conscious, or something like that, putting me off. I hope these aren't literally their names! |

Eric Chahi made Another World by himself while living with his mother
it was also the first game he ever released
he MIGHT'VE taken his shirt off, but I'm not sure. [citation needed] |

Um, no.
No no no!
NO
Another World was the twelfth game he worked on. For example right before AW he'd been the artist on the quite noteworthy Future Wars.
The noteworthy bit was indeed that he did almost everything (including boxart) in AW by himself, but ambient sound was done by Jean-François Freitas. |
I said released, not "worked on"
but do you not deny that he took his shirt off while making it?! (this is the important part) |

yeah AW was pretty cool
well the rotoscoping was really crude actually. I wouldn't call it "state of the art" in any way, more like economical DIY

I don't want this to turn into a graphics whore discussion, but AW's graphics and rotoscoping were state of the art for the day, weren't they?
They certainly weren't retro throwbacks.

when i was young i (was forced to) watch some film about a handicapped wheelchair kid who wants to go into space, so he does some protest thing and handcuffs himself in some space museum until NASA gives in to his demands and he gets to do a spacewalk, and he didn't have to pay a million dollars because that part wasn't invented yet i think he got the trip for free
and i was like WTF THAT ACTUALLY WORKED I SHOULD DO THAT TOO and then a few years later i learned to seperate fiction from reality (i think)
so Nintendo if you're reading this, AND I KNOW YOU ARE, you know, just hinting that i have a couple shitty Klik N Play games i'd like to port to the Wii. you wouldn't want two people locking themselves in a room for 100 days would you. it would be a PR disaster.
also i want to go into space. |
