Halo: ODST includes an ARG-style meta-game designed by old 42 Entertainment designers within ODST itself, where you can find clues and traces of a story about a lone civilian, with artwork done by Ashley Wood.
It's like they're going back to the kind of creativity that made me fall in love with the Marathon franchise and kept hinting back at with i love bees and the terminals in 3. |

I would actually really like some frontpage posts about some of these. |
i could repost a review i did on my blog of deadly strike (aka Simple 2000 Series Ultimate Vol. 16: Sengoku vs. Gendai)?
i have quite a few of these games (and the intention to get more), and i could post about more of them once i'm back at uni and have enough room to set up my ps2 _________________

d'oh.
just as I suspected, Jelcom is really Jaleco, and as I should have remembered, WiZman's world is their upcoming RPG with a 2chan poster in it (like so). At least we now know it's on DS.

I wonder if Jaleco has ever really known what it's doing. |

| The iPlatforms are a much, much better home for indie dev, and while that's gone nowhere except in terms of aesthetics for a couple of years now, the DS is an animu wasteland except for an average two or three games out of the year. |

I can't actually believe they put Frank West, photojournalist, in the game. I'd been asking for that since the game was announced, and Capcom just doesn't do nice things like that. _________________

| Also that rumor is forgetting that Tekkaman Blade was confirmed official on the website, making the total five new characters right there. I doubt there's a second version of Zero as that leak source speculated, as the other characters were figured out the same way that they're talking about figuring out a second Zero. That file name is the alleged proof that there's a Zero in the game at all. |

either zero (mmx or, uh, zero series zero) sounds like a good addition. so long as he's not too similar to karous. _________________

that sounds familiar. she's also playable in zombie hunters 2 (aka The Oneechanpon ~The Neechan 2 Tokubetsuhen~ ), and one of her attacks in that game is to do a string of model poses. she is (or was, at least) tamsoft's mascot type character. although she isn't in oneechanbara x on 360, not even as dlc. maybe that series' popularity has made tamsoft replace her with aya? _________________

More Tetris news!
Some screenshots of the upcoming Tetris the Grand Master 4. The theme is tenderness/caring/kindness, which totally caught everyone off guard. No word on the gameplay exactly but screenshots suggest Arika was given complete freedom to maintain their Sega-derived rotation system. Here's hoping the gameplay beneath the flowers, hearts and rainbows is meaty.
Also, Sega has put "Deka Tetris" on location test. Roughly translated it means "Huge Tetris" and the game has a somewhat unique gimmick:
Notice the rotation buttons placed on the oversized joystick, because presumeably you'll need 2 hands to move those things. As an interesting note, Sega made that game and is publishing TGM4, so they are kind of competing with themselves. Though given past examples, TGM4 might not see actual release for some time. |

guys, I haven't played Tetris since the pack-in version on the Gameboy (and the two NES versions and the original arcade version before that).
How is this Tetris different from that one? I see that it now tells you the next three pieces instead of just the next one, and it looks like you can "hold" a piece (someone please explain to me how that works). Is there anything else? _________________

The other differences are subtle and don't really effect most players. Things like each piece having a signature sound as it comes up in the queue so you don't have to look away, or the way the rotation works (what part a piece rotates around, how it rotates when it's already landed). colour_thief is more qualified to explain than I am. _________________ ☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹

Deka Tetris looks like one of those games that are purely aimed at being a fun/simple date game for couples. So, not really self-competing really. _________________

There's is a "hold" box that starts empty. When you press the hold button, it puts the piece into the hold box and gives you the next piece. After that, pressing the hold button switches your active piece for the one in the hold box. It's very useful to rearrange piece orders both for strategic reasons and to place them in an order that is faster. It's very powerful and versatile once you get used to it.
I'm just about to leave for the weekend so I've got to make this quick and can't explain it myself but I'll leave you with 3 good links.
A good TGM clone:
Texmaster (Windows/Linux/Mac OSX 10.5)
The first 2 games are also in MAME if that's your thing.
A good article describing the game features that seperate the series from other tetris games:
http://bsixcentdouze.free.fr/tc/tgm-en/tgm.html
French TV show "Superplay" episode explaining the game, with English subtitles:

| There's nothing wrong with the PC version of Braid, so I would go for it. The only minor issue is poor gamepad support, but that's easily solved with joy2key. It's only 5 bucks so you can always buy it twice. |

For some reason, the PC version of Braid is really blurry on my system and there's no advanced video options to fix that. :( _________________

To summarize the premise: loli aliens crash into the prime minister and house of congress of Japan, killing everyone. To cover up their mistake, they find a high school girl walking by and brainwash the entire world into thinking Japan is a democracy with a president and make the high school girl the president of Japan.
Hijinks happen when the tzar of Russia, who is a hot blooded, military supremecist big busted high school girl, comes busting in and causes moe trouble.
It's like shitty animu Metal Wolf Chaos. It'd be almost good if it wasn't so moe. :/ _________________
