Ubisoft has a website up for Armored Core For Answer.
http://armoredcoreforanswer.us.ubi.com/
There's a new trailer up for the game there, with a curious (english) voice-over.
The story is somewhat explained on that website.
Frankly, it looks pretty shoddy compared to From Software's own page for the game.
However, it contains some pretty useful information:
Looks like the game takes place 10 years after the AC4, where the remaining corporations now rule the planet and the war you started and finished in AC4 has destroyed the planet. There's a guild up now that runs really close to how the Raven's nest operated in other AC's, and the pilots are either descendants or survivors from the war in AC4. There's no mention of Anatolia's Merc and what happened to him or the nation. (The player character was the Anatolia Merc in case anyone forgot.) Also, it looks sort of like Joshua O'Brien somehow survived and is still piloting his White Glint, this time for a democratic idealistic nation/rebel group. He may be an AI construct this time.
The game is getting released on the 16th of September 2008. That's only 4 freaking days away!
Information on the Co-Op:
Transitions from multiplayer to single-player are seamless and no longer involve selecting it from the start. There's an option called PARTNERSHIP when you load up a mission and if selected allows you and a friend to form a team and complete the mission together. Not all missions allow this though. :( _________________ Man, I'm sorry. |

Having the White Glint pilot be the Anatolia merc would be interesting; having your former PC go up against the new guy, yeah. This would be a first in an AC game, and I can't really think of any examples where this has happened in another series.
AI construct is the leading winner here though Toll. AI constructs competing with humans has always been a central theme in AC, where humanity is always one step away from creating it's own destruction. Nine Ball was always an AI so it makes sense that O'brien would've been the base for the Nine Ball's program - since he was the second best pilot out there and it would add more weight (and sense) to that final battle against him in AC4.
Also, there's a lot of evidence pointing to the fact that AC4 is a prequel to rest of the 'Core games.
Oh, and they spell out the fact that Normals are just regular AC's being piloted by "normal" people. _________________ Man, I'm sorry. |

None of it is spelled out for you, you have to infer what's going on. Kinda like what it would really be like if you were actually a merc.
But all of it is there - you just have to look for it. _________________ Man, I'm sorry. |

Looks like the stage is set in America. _________________ Man, I'm sorry. |

| "Downloads" is too generic, you might as well include "paid" or "for money" to make it accurate. DLC has already acquired the "post-retail extra content for cash" significance. Language evolving, etc. |
Yup. Totally agree with you Diaz. _________________ Man, I'm sorry. |

Gametrailers told me to wear a condom when I have sex. Thanks Gametrailers, I almost went into that No More Hero's trailer without protection on!
EDIT: Sakura looks terrible in that scan. _________________ Man, I'm sorry. |

Man, I hope it's the PS2 remake of the first game. That's the most logical one to bring over anyway. If it's V, then someone at NIS must have a strange sense of humor. :/ |
Whatever version it is, I'll be buying it. _________________ Man, I'm sorry. |

Looks like the original Twinkle Star Sprites, not the sequel - correct? _________________ Man, I'm sorry. |

If had use for another copy of the original TSS or for an actual physical copy of Commando I would pick this compilation up.
Ninja Commando runs in MAME for anyone interested and the ROM is rather easy to find; I suggest everyone try it out not just for the fun gameplay but for the hilarious english translation and storyline present.
You play three ninjas that start in the future and time travel after some guy in a suit and blonde hair. Everytime you press the attack button, your character yells something in text at the bottom of the screen - Nazi's make an appearance of course. _________________ Man, I'm sorry. |
