Oh Godhand, how a love thee so. But why, why don't you autosave? And why can't you find my old saves, so I can play on Hard? Why?

Also, Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, can be kinda a pain at times! Not nearly as bad as Twilight Princess, but still! I mean, you got that part where you lower a fire wall for a short amount of time, and you gotta get to the wall, timing it perfectly so that you can reach the floating platform, all the while avoiding those Phantoms...a pain! Good thing everything else is really good.

The World Ends With You has simply no business being as good as it is. Tetsuya Nomura really needs to stick to making bad games! I need a human face for my hate of Square-Enix, and if he keeps on making things like TWEWY, I might have to start taking him seriously!

And Jesus Christ, I need a joystick for my Xbox 360. It's not even funny anymore.

how does a company known for RPGs end up creating one of the most fun action games on the DS? i want a sequel to TWEWY
and a bunch of actual badges

Fuck that, how does Tetsuya Nomura make one of the best action games on the DS? I mean, really! A couple of the bosses are off, and some of the enemies are crap (GODDAMNFUCKINGBOOMERANGCRABSIHATETHEMSOMUCHARGHHH) but that's...normal! Shit, even DMC3 had a couple of bad enemies and bad bosses!

And the soundtrack! It's not all totally sweet, but a shit-ton of it is.

The only real problem I have is the spritework. It's quite clear that their character artist wasn't thinking "These are gonna be sprites" during the drawing phase of things. But then again, after seeing SF3's spritework, almost everything looks bad.

And yes, the badges are awesome. I just finished mastering all the Jupiter of the Monkey shockwave pins. They spell monkey ^_^.

thesycophant wrote:
I wouldn't mind an extension of the game concepts in The World End With You, since it's probably my favorite DS game, but I kind of don't want a sequel sequel.

Maybe something with same setting, but new characters? And less anal pin evolution.

Dark Age Iron Savior wrote:

Character design and music and probably story for TWEWY were done by Square, but the art and game engine development was farmed out to Jupiter, who did the same for the original KH: Chain of Memories (another interesting portable action-RPG, although much less of a success).

They also did the Spectrobes games, but oddly, they don't seem to be working on Spectrobes: Origins for Wii. So I have no idea what they're doing right now, aside from recruiting.

KH:CoM was pretty good...put it had the fatal flaw of reminding me of the existence of KH, and the fact that I played it to completion.

Was Spectrobes all Jupiter? And was it any good? I keep on hearing mixed reports.

I think it's because you can't micro-manage anything.

I need to find my Majesty disc...probably right next to my Civ 3 disc...T_T. Why do I lose the things I love?

You mean you only have 3 pins in your collection, or you can only equip 3 at a time? If the former, fight moar noise. If the latter, save that scarletite, and buy some extra slots. Poke around the shops also. And Shiki's jump is kinda worthless.

Mars Matrix is damn brilliant. One button, one stick; awesome possibilities.

DoDonPachi is great.

Progear. Good memories.

Also, a fuckton more of UT3. No one is on, and no one plays insta-Gib.

As far as I know, there is no rocket arena type thing, at least in UT3. I'd play that if there were.

But there is a retard RPG mod. Because even kids who don't play WoW want to play WoW.

And yeah, quake live in great. I should do more of that.

I wish more people were on Instant Action.

Played some SF4. Yum. Still don't like the emphasis on split-second techniques that are just a pain to do.

Gotta get a stick. Gotta get SF4.

The one thing, the only thing, I hate about Call of Duty 4 is the fact that playing it makes you suck at Gears of War 2. Why won't right bumper throw grenades!?!?

Also, I really, REALLY suck at Street fighter, but I'll blame it on my game-pad, at least until my stick arrives.

WERE YOU AWARE:
Only 2.8% of CoD4 players have beaten Mile High Club on Veteran Difficulty? It's true!

Some people have no taste for finer things in life.

Also, MvC2 is still great. And the 360 netcode is balls.

Also, THERE IS NOW A MAP IN GEARS OF WAR 2 THAT TAKES PLACE IN MIDDLE OF A DESERT. GUYS AND FAITHLESS, I LOVE THE DESERT. GUYS AND FAITHLESS, I NEED TO PLAY HORDE IN THE DESERT.

Shadow Complex is pretty bad. Or maybe it's just insane mode? Combat is a joke, and the level design is meh at best. Gonna give it another shot later on though, on an easier difficulty.

I don't think so, really. Insane just makes it painfully obvious how messy and unreliable the combat system and enemy design really are. On lower difficulties you can get by without worrying about it, but that's just because damage ratios and enemy intelligence are low enough to compensate for it, not because it's actually designed any better.

I wanted to like this game so hard. I really have no idea what people are saying when they say this game is good. I feel like it's Fallout 3 all over again!

Fuck it, I'm playing Space Giraffe.

LOLZ, extra spatial dimensions that have no gameplay impact are for nub-scrub-xors.

Srsly tho, I refuse to pay $60 for SF:Let's Pretend 3 Never Happened, specially since I can bum it off my friends. I'll take HDR's honest simplicity any day of the week.

My local 'scene' completely manhandled the game from release - we had our first big tournament a couple of weeks after it came out on consoles and people already had something going on and the bnb stuff down.

There's a lot less depth than 3S or Super Turbo, so don't expect to have to put that much time in.

Define depth. (Not an asshole question, just curious)

I think I get where you're coming from, and I agree, but I feel you're reasoning is off. Consider that the game is basically Super Turbo, in 3d, with a twist on parrying. It's not a matter of how deep it is; it's more a matter of that depth already having been explored.

That being said, I am hopeful for Focus Attacks really shifting things up, once people learn how to really use them. I just keep coming back to the Evo finals, with Daigo just stomping Justin with FA spam.

I could never get into the multiplayer; it always seemed to be focused on exploiting weird little bugs, with no emphasis on the cover system.

There's a huge emphasis placed on the cover system. It's called the longshot.

See, I remember it being all about torque bows and shotguns, with a boom gun every now and then. Has it really changed that much?
