Anyway.
It IS an actual whip. Specifically, an Australian-type stockwhip. The string makes the end even smaller than the leather itself, which has the effect, when the whip is cracked, of propelling the string to Ludicrous Speed. If you've ever held a tennis ball on top of a basketball, and dropped them, you know what I mean, here.
Whips crack because the very tip actually breaks the sound barrier. A whipcrack is a tiny sonic boom. It's the coolest thing ever. _________________
