From this list, it looks like most American 360 games are playable on the Japanese 360, but most Japanese 360 games are NOT playable on the American 360.

Geez, Japan, way to break everyone's misconception that you're xenophobic.

That's more ethnocentric since it's not keeping any american games out of their 360's.

true, but it's also xenophobic in that they don't want to share.

I believe the consoles themselves don't have region protection; it's up to the game's publisher to put region protection on the disc if they want to or not.
