I am the only person on Earth who owns Bombastic. I am also the only person who has heard of it. Google turns up zero search results if you search for "Bombastic ps2 game." Go ahead and try.* It is lacking love, and the Aqui are sad and depressed.
So sad and depressed, in fact, that they have started to walk around on dice and make them explode. That is right; they make dice explode. They roll dice around all over it's various sides, trying to line up the top face number with other dice with the same top face number, with the total number of dice lined up together equaling that of the top face number. By this, I mean they line up six dice with the 6 face up, or four dice with the 4 face up, or two dice with the 2 face up. Then, after a short time limit that varies depending on the top face number, they all explode. That's right; they explode. And their explosions set off other dice with the same top face number, or dice with the top face number one less than the ones that cause the explosion. That is how dice with the 1 face up must explode; they must hit by explosions from 2 dice. If you roll around a die that has been set off and will soon explode and are able to roll it next to die with the same top face number as whatever the die you are currently on happens to be at the time, that one die will set off as well, allowing you to achieve massive chains from you rolling and from the explosions.
All they wanted to do was meet their Grandfather in the Land of the Clouds, blowing up any monsters that tend to stand in their way. In fact, blowing up every monster so as to get a perfect clear in the level. But of course, it is not easy, for they live in a puzzle game, which forces you figure out how to place the dice and set them off in such a away that all of the monster will get blown into smithereens, and out of the way of the Aqui. They even fight big, cute boss monsters that require difference strategies from normal to defeat.
They also wanted to play 5-players with a multi-tap where they all run around in a small field of dice and try to blow each other to smithereens. It is very hectic causing me to always lose, but it is still fun and would be even more fun if I had people to play it with. But alas, no one has heard of it.
Why does no one love Bombastic or it's precursor, Devil Dice?
*Don't. I was lying. |

i know for a fact that swimmy owns this game because i traded it to him. not for lack of love, though. it's a wonderful game. i think the dice intimidate people. it takes a while to develop a sense for which face is where. once you do, though, it becomes a thing of beauty. _________________

I think this is why I lose. For the most part, I am rolling around completely randomly because there is no time to stop and think about where the faces are.
And what if swimmy traded it away? Then he wouldn't own this game and you would be wrong. |

Yes. They intimidated me, and my mother, and my sister. Not really an accessible game. |

| Own it, played through the Quest Mode, played through all 100 levels of the Attack Mode or whatever it's called with my girlfriend. Great game. Especially like that you can change games styles so it plays like Xi/Devil Dice or Xi Jumbo. |

Five-player was rad as hell.
It was one of the only games that could even fuck with Goldeneye when I was in high school. In terms of multiplayer, anyway.
Man that game was cut-throat. You could snipe a huge combo right out from under someone's feet without a whole lot of effort. I think there were more fist fights over that game than Bond at my house, and that's saying something. _________________

I have Bombastic and Devil Dice
HOT TIPS
if you own devil dice just pop it in your console of choice, load up endless or puzzle mode (this is not too convenient for 5 minute timed mode), and pause the game. load up your COMPACT dISC AUDIO of choice and flip it to any track you want in the pause menu. This is great for puzzle mode, since it loads all 100 or so puzzles at once(!) and I've spent up to an hour in endless score attack before so it works quite well there too. the original was Total Zen and Bombastic was okay.
I finished every puzzle in the the original. _________________

| I own this game as well! I actually really like the deathmatching in it, though I haven't played too much of the quest mode. It is a lot of fun once you get a hang of the dice sides. |

| I played mass quantities of Devil Dice on the Playstation, to the point that walking around outside afterwards I saw rolling cubes everywhere. |

I purchased this having owned Devil Dice.
The multiplayer is pretty nice. I haven't played it in a long time. |

I see it for like 5 dollars used at every Gamestop/EBs I visit in this great land. Some still have it new.
I played that tar out of devil dice years ago back in my dorm days. Right between bouts of Puzzle Bobble 4 and Puzzle Fighter. I never bothered to pick it up as a result of the hours sunk in to that game so long ago.
I have wanted to get Bombastic for maybe 4 years now. _________________

I have both Devil Dice and Bombastic. Fantastic multiplayer games, though I prefer Bombastic myself.
I'm noticing a strange trend in puzzle games which have surprisingly awesome/party-ish multiplayer modes. |

i have this game too.
i like it a lot, even though i suck at it.
it was my very first ps2 game.
i had this game before i even had a ps2.
this is true.
it's the US version though, and my ps2 is japanese.
so i only get to play it on the chipped ps2 of a friend of mine.
also!
i believe this saw a budget port/remake/whatever for psp as "xi collosseum" in japan. |

Because I would have offered it for trade on the gamer's quarter forums, and Dess would have seen the post!
Yeah it's pretty good. A little tough to get used to, I was bummed how on the first boss I had to give up trying to trick him and just walked around onto random dice hoping to blow something up. _________________

I used to have Bombastic and I played for, like, a day.
Then I stopped playing it and I traded it in. |

yeah.
it's not a remake, though. just a pretty bare fuckin' bones port.
using just one UMD, you can play game sharing multiplayer of the full game with up to four other players!
