this Ignition Entertainment.

as the apparently US distributor for retail SNK games, they are releasing Metal Slug 7 on the 18th of November, alongside...let's see...Luminous Arc 2, Elebits 2 (which, yes, is for DS), Moon, a Need for Speed game, and a Tomb Raider game. Not all of those games will be good, but enough people will think they might be good to make purchases of Metal Slug 7 seem unlikey.

The week after that week, Chrono Trigger DS.

The week before that week, uh, Dragon Ball: Origins (shut up), Pokemon Ranger 2 and My Stop Smoking Coach with Allen Carr.

Before the US release of Metal Slug 7, the following games will be released in the US:

Spore Creatures
Lock's Quest (which will be totally awesome)
Dragon Quest IV
Mazes of Fate DS (wasn't that already out?)
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Kirby Super Star Ultra
SimCity Creator
Lego Batman
Disgaea DS
Time Hollow (another game you should be curious about)
Exit
Legend of Kage 2
Master of the Monster Lair (Dungeon Maker DS, nothing to get excited about)
Rune Factory 2
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

And countless other games which might also be good or not good.

Why am I mentioning all this?

Because the localizations work for Metal Slug 7 is completely done.

In fact, it was done and included (but unavailable) in the Japanese release, along with the Ignition logo. Thanks to the way the world works, people found this out before the game hit Japanese store shelves, through the wonder of ROMnomancy.

All the European localization work is done too.

Ignition has up a a very enthusiastic US site for the game, more enthusiastic than the Japanese one - it even features all the music from the game as downloads! But they are apparently just sitting on this game for about three months, and have been sitting on it since the Japanese release a month ago.

I have a theory about why this is.

Ignition feels obligated to release the game outside of Japan, but they are in truth ashamed of it, and they are hoping no one buys it.

And, hopefully very soon, I will show you why.

Metal Slug 7 is a complete non-event and I don't know anyone who is frothing for it anyway.

There is a whole bunch I could say about Ignition. Like they fact that their PS2 PAL conversions are the work of Lucifers codeshop(Previously responsible for Nintendo's non-Rare output). Translations somehow go missing and games turn into buggy piles of shit (Hello Neo Geo Battle Colosseum) and the less said about their release schedule. The better.

Of course, they are still bringing out SNK games in PAL regions so that is nice. And Cheap. You would be surprised to find an Ignition SNK game that's over 25 at this stage.

In conclusion. Posting in a DAIS topic.

Man, I really enjoyed Metal Slug 7.....EXCEPT NO MULTIPLAYER WTF.

I will say that was a seriously flawed part of the game. Who plays a Metal Slug game without a friend? Hell, I bought a Neo Geo arcade to play Metal Slug games with my friends.

It was fun the first playthrough but I doubt I'll ever play it again simply due to the fact that I can't play it with anyone.

My Stop Smoking Coach with Allan Carr is about the best idea for selling DS software I've ever heard! They are going to make a mint!

Ignition apparently didn't localize Metal Slug 7 themselves....they (or SNK?) hired a specialist company I've never heard of: http://www.nanica.com/en/

Although judging by their clients, maybe I should have!

making another topic maybe soon, it isn't actually worth the hype, but I figure it will amuse/irritate a few people.
