Nah, just search the web. No tablet to explain farther I believe. (I mean I dunno what is a Udjat until I google it)

I don't remember if it auto-detects and setup your controller but you can always go to the option screen (F5) and choose joy setting. That should work. |

I honestly can't believe that anyone could make any serious progress in this game WITHOUT some sort of guide. In the end it came down to one question - did I want to be the guy who cheats a little, or the guy who actually tries to beat the frickin' confusion gate?
This game has some really great bits to it, and it's wonderful when you're feeling like an explorer, but game logic abounds. _________________ making you "lol" if you will |

Thinking to look up what Udjat was ended up being fun and informative! Probably would have helped if the Elder gave his "You're connected to the Internet, right?" speech sooner though.

Confusion Gate is one place I don't think anyone would mind you looking stuff up for. Some of it is just dumb. (Like the weight on the skeleton? What the hell? That one was mean. It pulls that trick again later, too, though in a somewhat more obvious scenario.) I made it as far as that, including clearing out just about all the available chunks of the maps around it, before I had to look stuff up.
I still need to figure out why the mantras/spells aren't doing anything at all at the end of the game with the fairies. I do them as I think I'm supposed to but absolutely nothing happens. |

| I uh, actually figured out the weight on the skeleton without getting help anywhere else. I looked up the solution to the 7-dias puzzle just so that I didn't run out of hams, though. |

mmm how exactly did it not work? If you can cast the spell on the 3 fairies you should be ok...unless you didn't destory the seal on the top so there's no goddess giving you the drink...
And yes confusion gate sucks really without any hint or guide; it is there to confuse you.
If you're in need of hams: there's a place in endless corridor that has lots of hams in the pots; since you often pass by there you may as well get some hams there (it's a bit too late for the 7 dais puzzle though). |

That's just it, nothing happens. The seal has been destroyed. There's the spinny fairies room, and the two rooms to the right of it with one fairy(? what the hell is that red thing?) each, all of them seem to be invincible. I type in the mantras in the rooms and nothing at all happens or changes.
Do I need to pick up bullets or something to shoot them down with? Or maybe I'm just inputting the things wrong, I don't know. |

Did you talk to the sage that mentions these fairies? It's probably a stupid question if you know what to chat but I think you need to talk to him before you can do anything with them. And sometimes the 1st time you type things in the game won't register, just do it again.
If the right spell register, the fairies would've either turned into stars of light, or just die. If you did all three, drinks will come out from the goddess and you can collect them. |

I've talked to all four of the sages, I believe, though I spent so much time in the dimensional corridor trying to get that damned life upgrade I may have missed it on one of my passes. I'll have to check there again, I suppose.
Either way it's annoying.
Edit: Ah, okay. It requires you to type the words in slowly. I'm a moron, but I blame my ludicrous typing speed.
Edit #2: Woo. Said all the mantras at the correct locations, and... she's invulnerable. Apparently I'm missing something with this, considering only one side of each of those symbols is flashing (the 'front'). Well, that's enough of a scavenger hunt for me tonight. |

Nah, you're done with all the puzzles, all that left is her (Herself is another puzzle really), and the bonus dungeon. She's so powerful that nothing but herself can hurt her when she's @ full power. So yea :P
Never thought off typing the mantras too quick, maybe that's may I usually don't get them on the 1st try, mmm. |

Well first you plug in the controller, and then you play the game.
So I filled the temple of the sun up with sperm. gross wtf? still haven't fully solved that puzzle, but I'm almost there. And why does that sign above the spike room say you should only enter if you've solved all the riddles? You can't even solve the sun temple without fighting the boss first. _________________

I've gotten to a bunch of the grail tablets in the bronze mirror world now, but I have no idea how to warp to them. Is this something I will eventually be able to do, or am I just not using the grail properly? _________________

| You need an MSX rom combination that's listed in the manual to warp to back areas. |

Oh cool thanks. When you combine roms that have an effect, does it make the sound in the rom select screen, or do you have to run them, or just leave the rom select screen or what? _________________

So as soon as I put the second of the two roms in, while I'm still in the rom select screen, it will sound? _________________

I'm sure there have got to be some bombs in the graveyard of the giants somewhere because there is so much stuff that look like they can only be destroyed with bombs, but I just can't find them. I did get the Gauntlet in there though, which is totally awesome, except that I had gotten so used to the slower whipping speed that now I have to adjust a little bit to time my overhead whip attacks properly. And I beat the guardian of the spring in the sky finally. He didn't take too many hits. The trick was just to toss as many throwing stars at his face as possible, and use the flare fun when he was above me. _________________

| There are bombs in the Graveyard of the Giants, yeah, but you can only get to the area where they're held through an exit from somewhere else. So uh, don't worry about it too much. |

woah, win, I just got the bronze mirror and I don't know what to do...
So, umm, a bunch of questions that will save me time tommorow when I can play the game again
About that udjat thing, am I suppose to stand under the big glowy udjat that falls on you if you hit the switch?
does killing the guidance gate boss (which I just did) open up the gates in the twin labrynth?
any tips on finding the ankh (I have the jewel) for spring in the sky, and what the heck does that gear blocking the waterway to the boat do?
is it worthwhile buying the bronze shield? |

| nvm, thank deek, I figured out the spring level. Tip for anyone that's stuck: If it's not working HIT IT MORE--in fact, that's generally speaking good advice for all of la-mulana... Unless you are getting struck by lighting... well, not necessarily, BAH. Okay, so now I have to figure out how to beat the fish boss. |

can someone explain to me how the grapple claw works. I accidentally skipped out on part of elders speech. I've kinda sorta got it working but I can't climb more than 2 levels without totally messing up. |

I find I get the best results if I push the direction opposite the wall and the jump button at the same time. I was able to get the Staff of the Serpent without too many problems (except for those damn bats) doing it like that. _________________

Finally got around to finishing this game, delayed by changing computers and generally being busy and whatnot.
I half want to stab the person who came up with the underwater phase of the final boss, and half want to commend him for reminding me that this is an adventure game far more than it is a platformer. Ended up being lucky that the answer was in some of the notes I took down, but sheesh.(I'd almost figured it out WITHOUT them, but the tediousness of taking the 8-ish minutes to haul ass back to her was really getting on my nerves...)
So! uh, where's this bonus dungeon that's supposed to exist?
(Also, I have to note that the 'Mukimuki Memorial' game available by the Unreleased ROM+GR3 combination is comedy gold for its completely and utterly random gameplay switch.) |

Nah the water phase was quite brillient imo IF you have taken notes to some of the tablets in the game (I told you herself is another puzzle).
For the grapple claw, hold up/jump while pressing againest the wall to hold grapple. To push yourself away from the wall release up/jump and press AWAY from the wall at the same time; if you miss the timing (or just release up/jump button) you'll just fall off.
For the bonus dungeon, read a tablet in the Giant's graveyard (I'm not very sure if this step is needed; it's the tablet that mentions the fake shield), then start by finding a secret doorway in the enterance gate.
For the unreleased ROM, there's another combination that gives you a gradius clone also. |

I don't feel like reading this entire thread (and I'm about to go cook), but has anyone else posted the trick to get 30 coins very easily, in about 2 minutes, and then repeat the process?
And has anyone posted a detailed explanation on cracking the sun, moon, star puzzle in the lower reaches of the second big dungeon? I haven't worked it out yet, but I've got a big page of interesting notes.
If no one has posted these things, I shall do so on my return later tonight. |

I was just assuming someone might have posted, like, a mathematical code to guaranteeing a certain trio coming up. I still haven't managed to get three suns. I also don't notice any changes with three moons and three stars. Do I need to set it to three and then leave the room and search, or once it's been set to three, will it stay like that forever and I can search at leisure?
Otherwise, EASY MONEY CHEAT:
[Once you've got the gail, reach the endless corridor and check the pedestal so you can warp back there.
The endless corridor can be found by going to the dungeon of giants, and heading downwards and to the left. It's fairly easy to reach. The endless corridor itself is also fairly easy to navigate.
There should be three pots with 10 coins in each, so a total of 30 coins. But only in the top row of rooms. Bust up each pot and collect all the coins.
Warp back to the village.
Save.
Reload the game using the CONTINUE option in the opions menu.
Warp back to the endless corridor.
Bust up the three pots, collect 30 gold.
Repeat.
I don't consider it cheating since the game expects you to think outside the box anyway, and it doesn't actually make the game any easier. Only less frustrating, which is a good thing.] |

| The best easy money cheat in the game is to just crack open all the pots you find, which will eventually lead you to 100-coins and other shit. Spending time to make 30 coins a go just seems like a waste of effort. Money isn't even that useful for the most part, anyway, at least in the sense that I always had enough money for the necessary items when they came up. At least, after I purchased the glyph reader and shit. |

alright, I'm totally stuck, anyone wanna give me any tips:
I got to the upper rooms of confusion gate: the area that opens up when you solve the 6 switch puzzle. Did some poking around in there, made very little progress, and now I'm stuck again.
Also stuck in moonlight place. I think all that's left for me to get in there is the ocarina and I know I'm suppose to pause the game in the rather female valley in the temple but I can't get there. There are suppose to be a flight of stairs that show up, how do I make those show up D:.
I think, those are the two rooms that I need to solve in order to progress any further, so tips would be appreciated. |

For the upper rooms of confusion gate, read all the tablets you can, then backtrack a bit and you should find a room that gives you an item that can be used to help you progress. (something about big and small)
And since you're still in confusion gate the ocarina is like WAAAAYYY later in the game you don't need to bother with it for now. |

Though you've probably already figured this out by now, toss the bombs through the little hole on the right side so they impact the wall in the middle. Taking that out will remove the pillar. Yes, it's really finicky on getting them to go through that hole, but hey. |

so umm, this is where I am:
confusion gate--beat the boss that lets out the endless key, but I can't progress get onto the blocked off ladder.
endless corridor--got the keyblade and the twin statue. Do I really actually have to race all the way to the gate within 25 seconds? I can only get so far as the room right before it. I know of the fake wall too. Any tips if this is what I'm actually suppose to do?
twin labrynths--I've exhausted every single room and got the life jewel and katana. I don't know how to make the ankh or anything appear. hints please?
moon temple--still can't get into the women's womb where you get the ocarina...
graveyard of giants--I can't get past the wall that blocks off the entire right half of the field
yeah, I'm lame, so hints please D: |

Which ladder? If you mean the ladder in tower of ruin you need a new weapon (assuming you didn't have it)

There're TWO fake walls on that floor. You can always race against the clock normally, however.

Read the tablets in the labrynths more carefully.

I mean the ladder in confusion gate in the room where all the little girls are jumping off the cliffs into the spike pit meat grinder thingy. To the upper right there is a stairway that's completely blocked off and everytime I hit it I get zapped by lightning. Should.. I try the keyblade?
And now I'm stuck at the end of the endless corridor. I actually solved all the puzzles with the blocks myself but I have no idea what I'm suppose to do with the giant eye only I know it works sorta like boos do in mario....
and I realized I actually did the get the ankh, and being the cheaty kinda guy I am (la mulana is starting to stretch my patience) I figured out what room the boss is in, but i can't make the candle thing appear and I have no idea how. Something to do with the witches but...? |
