I decided to do a playthrough of the remake since it's been so long, hopefully someone finds it entertaining and/or educational:



I'm loving the remake so far, every change feels purposeful

The remake doesn't compromise the intent or design of the original, it just feels like it's from a newer era than MSX. I'd say play the original and pick up the remake if you want to support Nigoro :)

There are only two points in the entire game where you need to use that technique, and it totally caught me off-guard too! In fact, I discovered it accidentally...

You can actually open up huge chunks of the game without fighting a single boss. I ended up with the Axe before I beat the first 3 bosses...

The hint for the tablets in the Guidance Gate is nearby I thought, it's a little poem about the history of some people iirc. You really gotta search everywhere and read/remember everything, it's too much.

I figured out the Mario pipe thing purely by accident, it's probably the worst part of the game
