|
|
I need some tips on how to use the intense power of the internet to find a missing person. Said person is currently being looked for by
A - The Police
B - His entire family.
So far Facebook and Craigslist aren't very fruitful.
edit - Google too. _________________ o-/< --- o-\< --- o-|-| --- o^-< |

| The old fashioned way. Kicking down doors and sniffing around. |

1) Set up a facebook group with details of the missing person's case
2) Myspace too probably
3) Invite everyone you know
4) Get out and flyer the shit out of your town
Are they in danger, on the lam, or both? |

All that stuff is being done I think, though Myspace I think hasn't been done yet. O.K.
He's in a lot of danger, yeah. Checked himself out of the hospital, mentally unstable, has lost a lot of weight. I don't think anyone is out to hurt him at all, except himself. People are just kind of freaking over here since he's in Vancouver and we're in Kelowna so there's not much we can actively do for him. _________________ o-/< --- o-\< --- o-|-| --- o^-< |

have you talked to the local news station? they might run a quick story on it, would probably be the most focused approach you can take. i would also put something up on craigslist. _________________

Have you inquired at any local homeless shelters? If he isn't with any of his friends or family that may be where he's ended up. I know for my part when I used to volunteer at places here in the states, I'd estimate that at least a third of the folks who would drift in and out had mental issues of one kind or another. That may have just been my own experience tho. _________________

Stuff is up on Craigslist. The news is a good idea, though most big and small news outlets have run a small piece on it already, including at least one newspaper I know of. The story is "stale" now. Hopefully the good people on this 24/7 right now will be able to get some of them to keep running it.
Homeless shelters are a real good idea too, although I hope if he does/has gone to one he won't be there long before he's found. Though it'd still be better than him leaving one for the street or wherever first.
Something Awful reminds me of Anonymous, too. Hmm! _________________ o-/< --- o-\< --- o-|-| --- o^-< |

UPDATE - He might be in Victoria [a single eyewitness identified him from his photo]! A judge has signed an apprehension order and my dad has flown off to go look for him. _________________ o-/< --- o-\< --- o-|-| --- o^-< |

He's been found. A random walker/jogger person I guess came across him, lying in some bushes in a semi-forest-park in Victoria. They recognized him from his poster [though only barely]. He's pretty far-gone, and it's amazing and wonderful that they found him before it was too late [2 weeks missing] [found at 112 pounds (he's six foot five)] (he'd been lying there for two days). It'll take a pretty long time for his life to get going again in any kind of normal capacity, but at least he's back now. _________________ o-/< --- o-\< --- o-|-| --- o^-< |
