OK! I scanned that article finally... kinda big images so apart from the cover being spammed here it's a download for your consideration and enjoyment...

It's a very good read I must say!

If you are having an awkward time reading this then I recommend installing comical and changing the download file extension from zip to cbz. Comical is easy to use, just use up/down arrows to read a page and page up/down to flick between pages.

Thank you, Greng. I'll give it a read sometime soon. Irfanview works just fine for viewing this sort of thing.

I've never really been at a table long enough to see that it's beatable. I've had games where I've done pretty much all there is to do but probably missed some sequence related bonus.

Also, found a funny...

"Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for “better treatment”? I’d ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth you’d probably be able to get a lot of free games."

Red and Ted's Road Show! Another Pat Lawlor creation with a very creative and darned good playfield, but the software certainly falls short of classics like TAF, TZ, Whirlwind, etc.

Still a fun game, though.

its owned by local singer/songwriter/twee pop guy Darren Hanlon, who lends it to the station
i once interviewed a local band and halfway through the (live on air) interview we ran out of stuff to talk about so we just talked pinball. it was really fun

Back when I was in college (early 90's), I did a Pin Report on the college's radio station, and even did interviews with the designers on occasion. Of course, it helped that I went to school in Chitown, but hey: every place has its advantages, you know?

I want to love pinball but I don't have the mindset (or skillset) for it I guess. I don't see how my actions will or wont result in the ball going directly between the flippers when it comes back next time, maybe if machines didn't have 'TILT!' sensing I'd love them, but even then who knows.

Pinball, 1973 was a good novella.

Have you found an English translation of it?

Mario's Pinball Adventure for the GBA is pretty fun! nice bold graphics and cool adventury bits, though all the playfields are a bit small and so far consist of 'beat these enemies'. still it knows its a videogame and dosen't even try to simulate real pinball

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hot-Pinball-Rock-Vol-1/dp/B00004THNV/ - check this shit. bands like the White Stripes and The Bellrays recording pinball themed songs for Multiball Magazine

found it while looking for a good iPhone pinball game

seeing this thread I guess I should mention that the A Life Well Wasted podcast did something about pinball a couple months back. they interviewed some guy that is apparently The Pinball Guy and it was pretty interesting. the dude is some uber nerd in the best way and you could tell it pains him that he can't make pinball games anymore.

I got to play a Visual Pinball cabinet today. It had a big flatscreen as the table surface, another for the marquee, and the standard matrix display for the scoreboard. I got home, and spent the entire night trying to get Fathom (AH YES!) or Cyclone (of Mr. Bungle sample fame) up and running on my laptop.

Does anyone have a grasp on Visual Pinball and vpmame? I'm not sure if its the rom sets or the tables that aren't working.

Well my last post killed the thread so maybe this one will revive it!

http://www.polygon.com/2014/9/30/6875137/big-lewboski-pinball-photos-video

This looks like a damn fine machine, to me. But I'd love to hear what the aficionados think.
