Man, this boss battle in FFV Advance is bullshit. I hate enemies that change their weaknesses. I also hate when you kill them but they come right back with a bunch of annoying attacks.

Argh!

I've been divvying up my time between Imperishable Night, La-Mulana, and Portrait of Ruin. I'd make a pie chart that totally looks like Pac-Man, but just assume that I'm playing a ton of La-Mulana, a not-so-ton of Imperishable Night, and spending all my time at school yelling "Charlotte! Jonathan! Charlotte! Jonathan! Yoko! Arikado! Julius!"

I've also got just about every important piece of text from the Mausoleum of the Gods written down, because La-Mulana invokes the fire of writing down a ton of things within me.

Still kinda getting knocked around by danmaku. I literally end up bombing or dying on every spell card from stage three onwards. But I just gotta graze everything, dammit!

Finished unlocking everything in Pop'n Music 13 (well, the Request songs are left, but as they are massive damage 9-line songs I don't think I'll get
to play them until owning a Pop'n controller (read: ever)).

Final thoughts:

Pop'n 12 - amazing default songs, nice stuff to unlock
Pop'n 13 - mediocre default songs, 'holy cow, it's so amazing' stuff to unlock (I mean, Genso Suikoden 5 song alone could make my day).

Did try some Beatmania IIDX 12, but even with 5-line, Auto-Scratch and Pop'n skin, it kinda doesn't speak with me. Pop-kuns are smaller, which messes my timing considerably. And the videos are annoying to say the least.
Also no moe-loli factor, so...

You can press select to change difficulty, and all the request songs have 5-line charts, so this shouldn't be a problem.

I dont like any of the games except golf, but man I loves me some golf. I can see bowling getting more fun with friends though.

Baseball is awful.

After getting a PSP last weekend, I've been playing a lot of Lumines and Parodius Portable.

Lumines feels just generally much, much nicer than Lumines Live.. not that I find anything really wrong with Lumines Live. I just guess it suits being on a handheld more. As for Parodius, it's my first time with a lot of these games and I'm enjoying them quite a lot - I suck at horizontal shooters, so them being what I perceive as a tad easier than Gradius is good.

Also playing Battle Garegga a lot on my mac 'cause macs don't play games and waiting on FFVI-Advance to arrive so I can continue my conquest of playing old games on current-gen hardware.

I played Warcraft III for the first time today. I had fun, went through the first handful of campaign missions. Found some old CD a friend had burned me, along with a keygen and a nice cracked .exe, so I threw it on the laptop.

Shocked I never got around to even trying WC3. Seeing as how I was pretty into WC2 back in the mid/late-90s. Even had a college roommate who essentially flunked out of classes due in no small part to WC2 addiction. In Spring 1997 you could get off the elevator to the dorm floor I lived on and instantly you would hear the sounds of little orcs and humans announcing themselves ready to accept commands. Anyway, roommate left school and became a lumberjack, no kidding. I hope for his sake that dude hasn't been allowed to play WoW...

Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins.

Get to the final level. Expect the usual "go back to the beginning and get mighty weapon then come all the way back" deal.

"You need 22 Light Rings to open this gate."

I had 2. Fucking TWO!!!

Thank you, Capcom you assholes, for turning one of my childhood favourites into a bullshit collect-a-thon. Promptly go fuck yourselves.

I bought DQ: Rocket Slime when I had a migrane today. Popped two aspirin, laid down and started playing my way through it. Several hours later, I think I'm about half-way through it but it's been a blast to play. I'm all for the giant tank battles, especially when I get sick of firing cannon and promptly jump in for a swift ride to the other side. Then sabotage every single piece of equipment, steal their nice ammo (Stacking up Spikeball/Arrow 3s!) and return to my tank for another few volleys.

Or if I'm feeling a wee bit contradictory, I grab my teammates and stuff them into the cannons for a few seconds of flight. Their bodies serve as good meatshields if I decide to follow them shortly afterward!

The collect-a-thon for the museum is the slight flaw I'm not really liking. I figure it will be a natural occurrence, which is nice, since it's so natural to toss anything and everything onto the rafts or carts littered throughout the stages

Still! The fourth case is easily my favorite in the series. It addreses some questions I had in the back of my mind from case one of the first game, has some really developed character work all around, and really immerses you into the Phoenix Wright "universe" that is so wonderful yet bittersweet because there's only one more game with the characters, that may or may not even be translated (I'm still kind of bummed out that the fan-translation of it never got past the first case).
It's a good case, and definitively the high point of the game. Still, I was annoyed by its lenght, as well as how it (and the rest of the game to a lesser extent) contradicts the Rise From the Ashes chapter of the first game. Yes, I know that Farewell, my Turnabout was written first and that it's that extra case the one that contradicts this one, but dammit, I really liked Ashes--it's my favorite case in either game, and it makes me sad that we most likely won't see anything involving its characters again.

But still, there's a lot to like in the case. Edgeworth!, a nice resolution to Franziska von Karma's story, and an honest-to-goodness moral dilemma, the sort which the game desperately needed at that point.

But yeah, at this point, the series could use an overhaul.

edit: thanks, spoilerz:

When you get a definitive choice of losing and saving maya or winning and saving your undefeated record, you can just flee the court and get a bad ending.

Well, by the end of the game I only had the platy statue. I had to deliberately grind maybe half of the statues I have now; some were close to the requirements by that point. The giant tank crew is still composed of two slimes, anyways, so it sort of speaks of how useful (re: not really) they are.

SSX on tour is the best SSX so far.

SSX:OT's great art direction makes me sad that SSX blur's character art looks so completely horrible...

Also, King of Fighters 2006 is pretty fun if you dont take it seriously.

I'm sure Falcoon really loves KoF and all... but really they need to start taking away his character design privilages. Almost all of his new characters look like Candy Ravers or some sort...

I found out the MAME cab downstairs has Trio the Punch, so I played it for about half an hour.

Game of my fucking dreams. I had a small group slowly form around me while I was playing it, holding out to see just how fucked up it would get.

I think I stopped shortly after defeating Colonel Sanders.

Also some FFVII. I'm just now at Nibelheim, at about 21 hours or so. It's not too terrible a game but I am not exactly gushing over it, either.

Played some Capcom Puzzle World on PSP.

If anything, this game kind of sucks. I mean, I played Buster Bros once before, didn't remember anything about it. Now I know it's not a very great game. But Capcom had the bollocks to put THREE of them in. And they're like 3/5ths of the UMD already! Another game is just called BLOCK and it's a breakout clone. You can put it into tate for a more accurate experience, but the paddle is way to sensitive for even the D-pad and it goes flying if you use the nub.

I mean, even Puzzle Fighter on this isn't worth it! It has almost none of the extras on the PC/console versions, since it's sort of an arcade port. I don't even know if you can choose to pick Akuma/Devilot/Dan, though you can edit your attack pattern, so it's a little pointless anyway. There's also two different modes of play that I don't even know if they existed before (a Columns-esque mode and some weird rotating 2x2 cursor in a Panel de Pon-esque mode).

If there are any redeeming factors, it's the ability to save screencaps onto the memory stick (though a plugin for custom firmware does that anyway, lol) and that Puzzle Fighter feels smoother to play than the GBA one.

I beat Final Fantasy VI Advance this morning.

The new translation is really tight as were IV/V. There aren't any of the pop culture references that irked the traditionalist nerd types in those ports, either.

The sound isn't half as bad as those videos of the rom on youtube made it out to be. It's not as good as the SNES audio by a long shot, but you do get a couple of tracks that sound kinda sorta better, like the opening bit of Kefka's tower & Celes' voice in the opera, which sounds less like a hard drive dying this time.

Unfortunately, the extra dungeon and weapons are, like IV advance, unlocked when you finish the game. I'd have preferred it if they were just around the World of Ruin with everything else, I think. It seems much harder than the final dungeon so far though and you just might have to level and equip the entire cast to get by.

You know for some reason a bonus dungeon in this game doesn't irk me as much as it did in FF4. I welcome this since the island to get Gogo seemed like a bonus in itself and I always had hoped there were more surprises like that hidden away.

I especially that you may have to actually use the entire party to make it through. I really loved those dungeons in this game.

So I popped out my year-old two day trial XBL to get some Ridge Racer 6 going on.

Man, wtf. I thought firenze was joking when people snake, but they really do!

Also, I am sorry mechanori. I haven't had a Live account since last spring since my 360 is perpetually disconnected.. I might go back on...one day. Unless if people want some Lumines Live going on, then tell me.

Played some Lumines Plus. Wow, nice game, though some themes are a bit hard to 'read'. Getting the hang of gameplay rules, I seem to be the only one not having played/watched the PSP original/freeware remakes.

Also some DQ7 and Marathon mode of Pop'n Music 12 (track 66/99, so I'm almost near the end). Fun times.

According to the in-game clock, I've logged about eleven hours in Bleach DS 2nd since it arrived about 30 hours ago. My brother is responsible for probably a half-an-hour of that, though.

My friend code is 2191 3587 2667, in case anyone else has gotten it yet.

Worth it, I take? I still haven't tried the first one.

Also, I've been playing Ridge Racer 6 on XBL most of the day. I am up to 51 online wins and still no class 3 online car. This is rather frustrating. I've been playing on my little 5" LCD screen because the 52" is nowhere near the router. It's a bit of an eyesore.
Also, fuck whoever slams the breaks and stopping your car. I promptly booted that guy and another poor sap who kept DNF.

Ask yourself the following questions:

1) Do I have a DS?
2) Do I enjoy fighting games?
3) Do I have wireless internet access?

If you answered yes to at least the first two, Bleach DS 2 is worth picking up (all three means you're golden). While I will bitch about characters getting nerfed for a while, there is, as with all fighting game updates, generally no reason to buy the first one now that the sequel is out. If you ever played Treasure's Yu Yu Hakusho fighter for the Genny, it's a lot like that, with a bunch of more modern fighting game touches like Damage Cancel (Guilty Gear's Burst attack) and a weird gimmicky card system that was attached to use the touch screen by letting you do stuff like recover life or instantly max your super meter or force all of your opponents to crouch or whatever, but a lot of people play with cards disabled anyway. Tolerating the anime the game is based on may help as well. If you at all enjoy traditional 2D fighters, though, the game's totally worth it, especially if you have friends who also like such games and also have DSes. Bleach DS 1 featured a complete VS mode for Download Play with all of the characters available, although it had incredibly long load times between matches, and I have little reason to assume BDS2 has changed that.

As a former die-hard 1.6 player, I must say that Source kicks 1.6's ass. And I get way more kills in Source, for some reason. I'm no longer in the bottom five! I was the number one player on my team a few times, even.

And yeah AWPs suck, but you have you adapt to them, because people WILL abuse them.
