| Pai isn't exactly noob friendly because she operates on small advantage, and exploits the special properties of her moves to subvert the vanilla situations in the game in order to shut down the opponent and set up her big damage. She's among the best characters in the game, and at first glance seems fairly conventional, but it can be frustrating to play with her when you can't get a large frame advantage to set up big damage stuff. |
IIRC in VF4/VF4e, the character select screen will display the recommended skill level for each character as the cursor is placed over them. Pai's is "Beginner". -_-;;
I don't mean to question your MAD VF SKILLZ or anything -- there's no doubt you probably know way more about the game than I do -- but when I read that post I couldn't help but think you were letting yourself get carried away. That first sentence alone is an overcomplicated, run-on nightmare. You could've just said she relies on frame advantage/special move properties and left it at that, and nothing would've been lost.
So, yeah. Pai was the first character I used in VF4 and we got along just swell. Use her if you like. Hell, use anyone! Xiaoyu was the first character I learned in Tekken, and she's not beginner-friendly at all. |

lol destroyed :(
I can see where you're coming from about Pai, but if he's just starting out I doubt he's going to be able to fully utilize any character he plays. I've always considered Pai fairly straightforward insomuch as not being a stance/grapple/etc oriented character, which is why I'd recommend her for beginners. I'm sure he'll pick up on the stuff you mentioned after he's spent some more time with the game.

played a little more Bullet Witch.. liking it a little better.
I don't have a fully formed opinion on this game yet. |
Heh. I played this a few days ago. It's alright, in a "mediocre games about hot chicks" sort of way. I like the magic system a lot.
I dunno if I'll ever play it again, but it was interesting while it lasted. |

I'm guessing you missed the shotgun? That usually does the trick.
Later on in the game I like sticking mine darts on chainsaw dude. Then again, I like sticking mine darts on everything. :)
I shot a poor hapless chicken with one once in a fit of cruelty. It freaked out, jumped a fence, and took out two cows with it when the dart exploded. |
