Man, I don't know about that--both games are sort of lacking. Although the PCE version of Lords of Thunder definitely feels alot more solid than the genesis version, it's still got this odd, floaty feel that reminds me of Turrican or something--there just isn't any solid feedback when you get hit. Kaze Kiri is pretty to look at, but it's ridiculously repetitive and way too easy for its own good. It's really a game that almost could have been great, if it's design and pacing were tightened up a bit, and that makes it heart wrenching to play through. |

Besides the aforementioned NES and NeoGeo emulation, you should also try out the genesis emulation. |

Although you don't seem to care for the aesthetics, I don't see you could think the sequel is not better in almost every way possible. Most of the problems Broco mentions are addressed in the sequel.
However, for what it's worth, I prefer the rope physics in the SNES game--the rope is way too stiff in the PSX game. Also, the 3d rendered landscape can cause a perspective issue when casting the line, so you might misjudge where to throw the rope, if you've been playing the SNES game for too long. |

| I'm not really sure where that Capcom went, but I fear they may never return. They certainly aren't the same people who made Megaman X7 or 8. |
I can't give enough love to the art direction of the Mega Man Zero games. But that might be considered to be "that Capcom." |
Seriously, check out the Rockman Zero Complete Works Artbook. Capcom's artists are really something else--they're probably the best in the industry. Well, second to SNK (not counting Fatcoon lol). |

| Think about Aliens. And Hunter/Hunted. And bots in deathmatch multiplayer. Think about using resources to defeat powerful enemies, and....oh, fuck it. I want the game, I want roaming bosses and shit like that, but I'm not going to make it and neither are you and it would be a waste of time dreaming it up. |
Have you played metroid fusion? You know those parts where the SA-X is roaming about and you can feel it around every corner? It's amazing.
What would be even more amazing if you could fight it, and if you were good enough, win. First time I met it, I tried doing this only to watch my bullets bounce off unfashionably. I say you get to working on this. Hell, if you won't I will. The world needs better games! |

I am getting so tired of Castlevania: Circle of the Moon.
It is ROUGH. Especially this part that I am on right now with the water. UGH those frickin Ice Armors or whatever they are called are EVERYWHERE and so are these annoying ice girls too. Grr grr grr, and I always ALMOST make it to the save point where I don't have to go through all that crap again but nooo I end up dying. Blah. |
Did you make sure to unpoison the water? The first time I played through that game I went through that entire part poisoned with my hp draining every 5 seconds while those frozen shades just walked all over me. It was pretty hard and I didn't have any fun doing it, nor was I especially pleased when you jump on that switch later in the game that says conveniently "water unpoisoned!" after the fact. |

| After putting it off for about 2 years or so I finally beat SMT Nocturne not 5 minutes ago, got the 'true demon' ending. It's a conflicted game; the good parts are excellent and the bad parts are awful. I feel like talking about it, maybe I should bump the p3 topic or something. |

Yeah maybe, but I find it hard to apply myself to the type of personalized rambling rhetoric that seems so prevalent in those threads. Either way, maybe later. |

It actually becomes very easy if you play very slow and methodically and pay attention to the enemy patterns. After that it just becomes a matter of not getting hit. Also, I think your hitbox is significantly smaller than the whole of your body when jumping, so you might want to abuse that.
I enjoyed this game for what it was, but in all honesty RE4: Mercenaries mode is just so much more mechanically fulfilling. I think it probably has more content also (ha-ha). |
