Earthbound Zero?
Nintendo themselves has that fully translated, no?
As if they ever would however do something that would shock people, haha! _________________

Sega Saturn games? One could only hope...
As for games on the consoles that are already there, I'll pick 3 on each...
SNES:
Super Metroid (duh)
Kirby Super Star
Earthbound
NES:
Super Mario 3 (hopefully with save state)
Kid Icarus (would make sense with Pit featured in the new SSB)
Kirby's Adventure
TG-16:
Blazing Lazers/Gunhed
Devil's Crush
Neutopia
Genesis:
Streets of Rage 2
Shining Force 2
Chakan: The Forever Man (yeah right, but it's a cool game)
N64:
Pilotwings 64
Yoshi's Story
Paper Mario |

I don't know if the Wii's graphics could handle it.
(LOL)
Also, there exists such a fucking bounty of Super Famicom games to release on this thing. Ogre Battle and Estopolis Denki II, et cetera. They need to get on the fuckin' ball already.

Fuck yeah! That's an amazing game. While they're at it, Leynos and Valken wouldn't be too shabby either. _________________

NES
Kiwi Kraze & Batman, for me two finely balanced platformers that don't have Super, Mario or Bros in the title.
SMB3
Digger T Rock, Boulderdash with brass knobs.
SNES
Super Ghouls 'N' Ghosts
Super Off Road
SNES / Mega Drive / Genesis
Sunset Riders, not too sure which would win as they both have pleasures and pitfalls
N64

Yeah, too bad those titles are never gonna see the light of the day outside of Jaypan.
The thought of playing never before released (in this country) titles was what got me excited about the system in the first place.
Unless I import a Wii and get granted access to Japan's VC games (and the fluency to navigate that moonspeak) by doing so I find it hard to care about VC. The real deal is just an online bid away. _________________

I think the VC will be great at selling a few classic games to new gamers who never got a chance to play them.
I've lost all faith in it being of any help to classic gamers who already know what they want to play and just wanted to do it all in one box.
Even though the good old games have started to get a little pricey, I think I'd prefer to just use e-bay to get what I want and maybe pick up an FC Twin whenever I stop being nightmarishly broke, presumably sometime next decade. |

Yah except it will be completely worthless without online multiplayer and voice chat.
I hate VC so much for its wasted potential.....put it on XBL Arcade instead please. That goes for almost all multiplayer classics. |

Well it has a VS mode...and if anything thats what i spent most of my time playing back in the day. Really its the only game of its kind to offer vs play.
But really I'm pissed off at VC in general for any game that may feature multiplayer of any kind. Its totally squandered on the Wii. |

newave sad and jealous not to have any real life gaming friends itt.
of course I am too, but I lack xbox so.
oh, and:
Secret of Mana
Mario RPG/Paper Mario
Starfox/64
Of course what we really need is one week with a Mother/Earthbound/Mother 3 on GBA release where we all collectively wet ourselves. |

Chrono Trigger.
And don't underestimate the draw of being able to play with a friend several states away Rabite. It is an incredibly addicting feature. _________________ I can no longer shop happily. |

I dunno. I don't think Square's going to release a lot of games for the VC unless they can sell them for $30.
That seems to be their thing, anyways. |

Yeah, well I have a Japanese Wii and quite frankly am so good at Japanese that I refuse to play these games in English because they were translated so illiterately and with no sense of subtlety so I'm being blissfully ignorant of American games ITT
Man, Super Famicom! So many RPGs! So many dozens and dozens of RPGs, many of which managed to be made by neither Square nor Enix and for some reason were still fuckin' great!
You don't need friends to live over here!!

I would most certainly agree with you.
Yeah, uh. Square-Enix is pretty anti-online-distribution of ANYTHING they made, even shit.
Like, we're talking a big fat middle finger from them if you even think of asking them if they'd consider putting, like, Tobal No. 1 (not even No. 2!!) on the PlayStation Store to download for PSP for 525 yen, which is even like 420 yen more than the game sells for in, uhhhhh, any used game store in Japan. They don't acknowledge used prices; to them, the game is worth the new retail price until, well, nuclear apocalypse.
They just don't make any sense, almost.
So yeah, I would say you're better off tracking down cartridges if you want to play any Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest games. _________________

"and it DOESN'T COME CLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE!!!!!!!!"
how true!
as in: man secret of evermore was like ten times the fuckin' videogame secret of mana was. _________________

I'm curious, what score did it get?(if you still remember)
And yeah, while SoM was a fun party Jrpg, I liked SoE more because of the charm and originality it had, and atleast the kid had something ressembling a personnality. Still SoM had its share of fun bosses. |

Yeah, I... like Secret of Evermore a lot more now that I'm older. I liked it more back then, but for some reason I was embarrassed about it and couldn't be honest about it.
And, yes, I would probably only play Metal Warriors for the multiplayer mode, even without online play. The Wii is more of a party console than the GameCube was, and it doesn't even have a handle for easy transportation. _________________ JSNLV is frequently and intentionally wrong. |

They didn't review it!
The kid in SoE was actually a bit annoying!
Still, at least he had some personality.
And man, awesome towns + huge scenarios + hard dungeons + game-wrecking legendary bugs = a league of its own.
SoM was just . . . you know. A dinky little kid stuff game. (A very good one, mind you.) _________________

I heard about a bug that could ruin your cart instead of your save file!!! And yeah Ivor tower/(other town's name that i don't remember) made me want to stay in them forever.
As for SoM, i did get made fun of by my friend, but after i convinced him that playing as the girl wouln't mean he'd be gay(and we were like 8 at the time, mind you) we had tons of fun adventures together! |

Slammasters (SNES) - one of the best snes multiplayers
Mario Kart (SNES) - it's better than the N64 version
Earthworm Jim (SNES) - haven't played this game since 1995
Super Bomberman 1 & 2 (SNES)
Mario Tennis (N64) - graphics aside, this is better than the cube version |

Can you give an example, please? The dialogue in the Lufia games is so good I find it hard to imagine that they were loosely translated. _________________ Get Xenoblade Chronicles!

Oh heh
Well, maybe not loosely . . . just, I don't know. Something that sounds perfectly natural in Japanese might sound cloying and awkward in English.
The goodness of Lufia's dialogue must just be the perfection of the pure heart of the story shining through.
Damn it, I'm going to hunt down the Japanese version of Secret of Evermore tomorrow night, I mean it. I'm going to Akihabara and I will seek it out. I want to know . . . something about it. _________________

Has anybody mentioned brand-new stuff? Brand new stuff would make the VC a lot more appealing to me - so far I have downloaded only one retro game on XBLA (granted, most of them aren't really all that special) and I would pretty much only use the VC to download retro titles I had never played. So, new stuff would be more likely to get my dollar.
C'mon Nintendo, there's a lot of really talented little developers out there who would love to put out budget-priced titles for your console. |
