OK, actually, WMP11 is starting to suck. Why is opening a playlist so much trouble?

That video was running, and didn't hitch or stutter no matter how quickly I rotated the pages. Also was installing my router at the time.

That's what's great about the new rendering system; the work involved in the rotating effect is entirely offloaded to the GPU, so no matter how fancy these effects get, they are painless performance-wise.

i'm not going to install pirated windows on my pristine computer.

That's not much different from pirating it, you would still be violating the license...

How about a nice free one to replace it? Try CD Burner XP Pro. Works great for me.

I'm not keeping it un-pirated for ethical reasons. M$ LOL etc. I'm keeping it un-pirated because I don't want shitty pirate software ripping my computer up.

Didn't work in Vista. Nero 6 on the other hand, actually did. A few compatibility dialog boxes, but it ultimately DID burn the data DVD I was making.

Um, already possible in every Windows release ever since 3.1 or 95?

By the way, Windows Vista is the next puzzle in achieving TCPA.[/quote]

Oh I am quite aware of Windows inherent customization options. I remember somebody's pink-with-huge-window-labels-in-godawful-script theme back in t he mid-90's.

Sawtooth: I am messing around with Shapeshifter again, yes. I see the link you included contains a simple Aqua theme that removes the arbitrary brushed metal from apps. I'm going to use it!

(I know there was a utility released a few years ago that also strips apps of brushed metal.)

Hey, anybody want Vista for cheap?

It really is a case of my Arrr-soft not really working. Otherwise I like it fine.

Of course I'm putting the proceeds into a legit copy of MCE2k5. I'm taking the loss because it's used software, and the hassle of revalidation.

My new Dell desktop arrived today, complete with a copy of Vista Home Premium. Initial impressions: this sucks. Impressions a few hours later: this really sucks.

I am now pirating XP to install on here. I don't think Vista is for me.

Nothing stopping me from reinstalling my old Arr copy of XP Pro, except I really don't want to go thru those WGA headaches again. I do have a legit serial for MCE, but apparently even the fucking DISCS have to be labeled correctly.

What don't you like about it?

Once GPU drivers stop sucking, I'll have no problem recommending Vista to anyone with a computer built in the last few years.

P4 3.0 GHz, 250GB HD, 1GB RAM, dual tuner cards, Radeon 9800 Pro...
