| If I remember, you can no longer S-link after the fog descends. I just don't remember when that actually is. |

playing through this on expert now, and i'm also zoning out while staring at things because i'm tired like all the time now and can't concentrate
noticing little things, paying more attention to the npcs (talking to them more, noticing little details or ways generic sprites are made a bit more unique, like the girl in the front of the class wearing her p.e. uniform under her school uniform)
the npcs do this weird thing where they start walking in one place, then slowly start to walk at a normal pace
the weather girl on the roof wasn't a unique sprite like i thought, she's just a schoolgirl with a huge bag (which i thought was just some weather thingy)
there's a persona 3 calendar in the main character's room, too. i never saw that. none of this is entirely new news i don't think. just talkin.
this was my first smt game i played, and coming back to this after all the smt/persona i've played and looking at my old persona skillsets for the past two playthroughs, i feel like i have gained some experience.
also i turned on auto-advance for the voiced events and it has made a huge difference. i can draw or work on something while watching cutscenes. i wouldn't do this for a first playthrough, though. _________________ kirakira no yume no naka de / bokutachi wa yakusoku wo shita ne

This, but everything I've read about P3 makes me really not want to play it. Is this sufficiently different?
(I would be getting the Vita version.) |

Sviper - I think I've said in this thread or others like a thousand times to play this instead of P3 or to play it if you've already played P3 because, man, it's so much better.
I am amused that this thread has been around long enough to warrant its relevance again now with Vita ports and a fightman game. _________________

I will buy it with your blessings when it's out here, Persona.
The primary reason I'm going for the Vita version is the shorter load times--I've heard that P3 on the PS2 is pretty unbearable in this regard.
Actually, I haven't seen any conclusive evidence that Vita games have less loading, but it's probably a given with flash memory?
Oh yeah, and P2:IS is out in the States this month! |

| Yeah play Person 4 The Golden when it hits vita, and then play P3P when you are desperate to play more persona but persona 5 is still like 100 years away from release. |

| I believe P3P lets you directly command every party member in battles, which would at least make one component of the game enjoyable. |

oh, i didn't write that! i just found it on Border House one day. thank you for the compliment, though!
i have thought several times in the last few years about writing some videogame-related essays, but i've never had the nerve or the energy to follow through on it. if i did, Yume Nikki would probably be my first target.
(ironically, when it comes to Persona 4 itself, i feel kinda ambivalent. i've just rescued Yukiko, and i think it's a good game, but i'm not floored or anything. maybe i just have the wrong personality for such a game?)

Oh, oops! Sorry.
Honestly, I've felt somewhat ambivalent with Persona 4, myself. Everyone says to keep playing, and I will play more of it, but I'm unsure...
It's pretty cool that someone could have a videogame spark that sort of bonding between friends, though. _________________

I kept at it until Naoto's dungeon, near the tail end of the game, but it just hadn't been fun for a long time at that point. Ended up watching the endgame on YouTube, skipping over the battles between the dialogue. Combat slog aside, it got impossible for me to really like anyone besides Teddy, and then mostly just for his mysterious shadowy past. I think I'm just too old to give a fuck about how Kanji is no longer ashamed that he is good at making dolls, or how the guy on my track team is too scared to date girls, or how Chie does not want to be protected. How does anyone out of high school find this remotely interesting?
I do quite like the family drama at home, with you becoming the adopted brother of a broken family, and anything involving the mystery of the TV world, but they withhold on a lot of that until the last hour of the game. The vast majority of the game is spent doing tedious busywork toward things I can't get emotionally invested in. I wish they put their focus more of the less-predictable elements of their world.
That said, it's charming as hell a lot of the time, and the combat has a lot of flash and energy. As bored as I got with the battle system, it always looked pretty great. And I'm glad to see JRPGs taking some real chances like this - this is the direction RPGs need to be heading in, and for the most part, are.
There's a reason I stuck with this game as long as I did, and that was how much potential this mixture has. When it's great, it's uniquely, delightfully great. Hopefully their next effort will steer clear of a lot of the anime genre cliches they hit along the way. _________________ tumblr

Got it coming in tomorrow! I wonder if I should liveplay it in its own thread too.
Also, do you guys think
will be a playable character? Also do you think she'll show up in the fighter too because of that?
I suspect so. _________________

i got it yesterday from amazon, somehow. i'm playing it and i keep switching back and forth between the original & remixed tracks. they're both good.
is michel/eikichi voiced by troy baker (kanji's voice actor)? sounds sorta similar. maybe i'm just imagining it because i want him to be kanji
right now maya is discussing parents with an empusa.
i haven't really battled much, i've been trying to farm cards and i'm not sure if this is the right way to do this.
persona that's a good question, i hadn't really thought about marie being in the p4 fighter but it makes a lot of sense, what with her showing up all of a sudden. _________________ kirakira no yume no naka de / bokutachi wa yakusoku wo shita ne

i recall someone here saying how tedious the cards were but i beat both original p2 games almost completely ignoring the persona system.
anyway i remembered i had a gift card laying around so i ordered this and it'll be here within the week i guess. |

Goddamn, I ordered off Amazon and they're delivering it tomorrow. They said they only had limited quantities but they refunded my overnight shipping fee at least.
From my experience with P2, you don't really have to grind for cards if you don't want to. There's only a few situations where you'd want a specific Persona so you can defeat a boss but for the most part should be alright.
But then again I never beat Eternal Punishment or the first game either. I got 3/4th through EP but then stopped when I lost a memory card and in P1 I got the bad end and then started up the Snow Queen quest on PSP but then stopped playing. I think in both games, I spent more time in the casino than actually playing. =____= _________________

I WATCHED AN ANIME OF THIS GAME TODAY
was surprised to see some stuff in the animation but honestly i don't feel like there's much to say right now
i guess i will totally know what the original voice actors sound like so well at the end of this whole thing. also they have done a good job with narukami.
also i had no idea narukami was such a good fit for the p4 main character! http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Narukami _________________ kirakira no yume no naka de / bokutachi wa yakusoku wo shita ne

Oh, cool find. I didn't know about that but it makes a lot of sense. I wonder if the Margaret knowing the spell was a nod to the P4's protag's canon name too or if it's just a coincidence or other kinda deal.
Should I watch the anime too? Seems like it's unnecessary if you've played the game, until filler episodes show up that deviate from the plot or something. _________________

i guess it's cool if you like animated viewmaster slides of your favorite videogames
i dunno, it's too early to tell for sure but i feel like i wouldn't be able to relate with this as its own thing if i wasn't thinking of the game, which might have been the whole idea? _________________ kirakira no yume no naka de / bokutachi wa yakusoku wo shita ne

i watched the first ep. of the anime w/ my gf
part of the fun of the game for me was how much of a playable anime it essentially was. so making a non-playable version kinda misses the point, i think
it looks neat and all but like, i already played the game, you know?? _________________

New screenshots up for the fighter.
http://andriasang.com/comysk/images/23hyw/full.jpg
Seems like Naoto is a trap character who can also instant kill you? Maybe if she hits you enough with a certain special? Either way, there's some sort of death icon underneath the opponent's lifebar whenever she's playing. She also seems to have status effect bullets like these silence shots from her AK (?!):
http://andriasang.com/comysk/images/23hyg/full.jpg
http://andriasang.com/comysk/images/23hyr/full.jpg
There's a new option at color preset: navigation. Does this imply you can change Rise to whoever you want to comment on the match? Maybe it'd switch from Rise to Teddie to Margaret to others?
http://andriasang.com/comysk/images/23hyd/full.jpg
Also new Rise art. Man, they use ground hitstuns in the air + horizontal/vertical spin for all hitstuns. So efficient.
EDIT: Let's see if this works _________________
