You'd be surprised. Well, maybe not. Actually you're probably right, no matter where you are or who you're talking to it's pretty much expected at this point that it's just a matter of when. I wasn't disputing that, however. My comment on that was coming from a place that fully expects the battle of debate to be fought over the "why" part of it, since there are still obviously people who think the terr'sts just hate our American way of life.

Perhaps. I was only commenting on it because it's a pattern for them, whenever some controversy erupts, to conveniently lose evidence. Whether it's by design or not is impossible to determine from where we're standing, but the end result (some kind of plausible deniability or whatever) is still the same.

"more air marshals have been arrested since 9/11 (for crimes like smuggling explosives, domestic violence, drunk driving and human trafficking) than the number of people arrested by the marshals"

That is so beautiful.

Also this. Tell me if it is hotlink protected. I'll just assume that it's not.

This reminds me of when the Bush administration "lost" 5+ million emails which were later "found" by independant contractors. The emails were mislabled or something. Same administration that had this guy as the freaking Attorney General.

The leaked footage on wikileaks came from the Pentagon in the first place (supposedly). It had to have come from a government/military database and was presumably swept under the rug. Possibly another mislabeling problem? Maybe the public will find out in three-thirty years. (About 10 years before all the 9/11 evidence and reports are declassified.)

From my home state: Oklahoma tea parties and lawmakers envision militia

Here's the money quote:

Quote:
Thus far, the discussions have been exploratory. Even the proponents say they don't know how an armed force would be organized nor how a state-based militia could block federal mandates. Critics also asserted that the force could inflame extremism, and that the National Guard already provides for the state's military needs.

Also, Wikileaks, the whistle-blower website, is reportedly preparing to release secret video of a notorious US air strike said to have killed scores of Afghan civilians.

United Nations wants to add "ecocide" to its list of "crimes against peace".

Looking forward to hearing the term "Gaiacaust" get tossed around.

Protest Sotomayor - failed
Protest President - still has ~50 approval
Protest Economy - DOW hit 11k
Protest Healthcare - failed
Protest Bith Certificate - pending...
Protest Gitmo Closing - sort of...
Protest Don't Ask Don't Tell - pending...
Protest Anti-Big Bank Policy - maybe?

The battles Republicans chose to fight will catch up to them in the coming elections. Their supporters are going to look around and realize that China doesn't own their house, Socialism death panels aren't in our emergency rooms, and the President attends a Christian church. The GOP doesnt have a figurehead that isn't racist, biggoted or a liar.

On the plus, Christians sure do have a lot of money amiright!

U.S. House and Senate Democratic candidates are leading their Republican counterparts in nearly every fundraising category, finance reports indicate.

And Michael Steel is spending the RNC's money like a drunken sailor on fake lesbians and special elections.

Obama orders same-sex hospital visits
I don't know why DADT is such a big deal compared to steps like this. Giving same sex partners power of attorney and visitation rights seems like a bigger deal at the moment. Yeah troops and jobs are kind of hot button in a "if it aint broke" kind of way, but forcing these hospitals to change- I don't think any sensible human being would fault this. Oh, yeah.

The military is such an important gay rights (and really any political issue that can conceivably have a military dimension) battleground because it's the one place where people can say that it's so important that "rights" have to take a backseat to what's efficient or effective. Real "merit."

What happened to "look forward, not backward"?

Quote:
The Obama Justice Department today announced that it has secured a ten-felony-count indictment against Thomas Drake, an official with the National Security Agency during the Bush years. Drake's indictment, of course, has nothing to do with the criminal surveillance undertaken by the NSA. Rather, the DOJ alleges "that between approximately February 2006 and November 2007, a newspaper reporter published a series of articles about the NSA," and it claims "Drake served as a source for many of those articles, including articles that contained classified information." In other words, he's being subjected to what The New York Times' Scott Shane calls a "highly unusual" prosecution for being a whistle-blower on the Bush era's sprawling and secretive Surveillance State. Although the indictment does not specify Drake's leaks, it is highly likely (as Shane also suggests) that it is based on Drake's bringing to the public's attention major failures and cost over-runs with the NSA's spying programs via leaks to The Baltimore Sun.

What the whistleblower prosecution says about the Obama DOJ

Quote:
It's true that leaking classified information is a crime. That's what makes whistleblowers like Drake so courageous. That's why Daniel Ellsberg -- who literally risked his liberty in an effort to help end the Vietnam War -- is one of the 20th Century's genuine American heroes. And if political-related crimes were punished equally, one could accept whistle-blower prosecutions even while questioning the motives behind them and the priorities they reflect. But that's not the situation that prevails.

Instead, here you have the Obama DOJ in all its glory: no prosecutions (but rather full-scale immunity extended) for war crimes, torture, and illegal spying. For those crimes, we must Look Forward, Not Backward. But for those poor individuals who courageously blow the whistle on oozing corruption, waste and illegal surveillance by the omnipotent public-private Surveillance State: the full weight of the "justice system" comes crashing down upon them with threats of many years in prison.

Actually the volcano itself is a fairly benign one, wouldn't be anything particularly noteworthy if it weren't for the fact it's under a glacier and thus making all that smoke. There were bigger recent ones in italia that weren't shown outside of the "look at the pretty lava shots" end-of-news segments.

I love how he manages to still shoehorn 9/11 in there somewhere despite it being completely retarded.

A volcano threw up more burning ash than a collapsing skyscaper, Rush? Really? Hot damn that just proves God is pissed!
