There was a neat GnG one somewhere, if memory serves, but really that shit gets pretty tedious no matter what you try and slap onto it.

I liked Beats of Rage a lot when it first came out, but played the shit out of it until even the gimicky mods felt pretty samey. Liked Dragons of Rage a fair bit though.

I was hoping with a few years and the improvements made by OpenBOR something interesting came out of it.

something that should be mentioned about Goku Makaimura Kai is that the arcade rebalancing means you only have to beat the game twice to properly complete it, as with the old games. (in the original version you had to do a collection quest which didn't really fit with the gameplay)

I didn't know the original version was included, though. That's new on me, and makes me feel like it's less of a cash-in (not that it's relevant to me, since the series is too hard for me)

for a little bit a bit ago I dreamed of using the BOR engine to emulate the Streets of Rage Remake and make the "definitive" Turtles in Time, with all the stages and music from the three original version - as well as bonus alternative stages based on other Konami franchises, like a Japan level with the Goemon characters or...

Little Fighter 2. not pretty or refined or arguably even that fun, but making huge battles of 50 little characters beating the shit out of each other at 10 FPS is amazing.

I don't have a Three, but some people around these parts seem to have liked Everyday Shooter, Flower and The Last Guy. And I thought it was a pretentious pile of shit myself, but Braid's on PSN now.

.detuned looks like an interesting demoscene thingy, and PA!N (ironic ragdoll torture simulator) could be fun if you're in a stupid enough mood.

Oh, and Siren: New Translation! You should be able to find some PS1 games that suit your fancy, too.

I also have no 3, but Fat Princess looked cute when I watched a friend play it. I will send that friend to this thread to give more suggestions!

Also, I have everyday shooter for PC, and like it lots, so it is probably also very good on PSN.

Don't forget to turn steering assist off immediately.

Flower is good for an afternoon's diversion.

Are there any DS homebrew games that are actually good? Also, how come so many of them don't work on my R4?

can't help you with the first right now, but just want to check that you understand the whole deal with DLDI. Here's a quick explanation and here are the R4 specifics.

Basically, the only two problems I can think of you running into (without further details on what is actually happening when you try different homebrew) is that you're trying to run old games which read/write to disk and don't support DLDI or your R4 firmware is mucking something up along the way.

And listen to G., Shatter is a wonderful game. Critter Crunch is also a fun time.

I've played more PSN games than anything else on my PS3, it's sort of funny.

Can custom stages be exchanged via sound data between the Japanese and US versions of Bangai-O Spirits?

It seems the answer to this is no, since the US version adds a handful of new backgrounds and tilesets. However, it's so damn cheap now that I wouldn't in the least regret owning both releases.

Unfortunately or not, the stuff that stands out as really exceptional (as of a couple of years ago, mind) are the ports, e.g. Lemmings and Another World.

So, I guess, at least playing them as ports is better than dodgy SNES emulation, right? You mind linking a few good ports? I'll be your friend (though that's probably not a good enticement).

Anyone know how to configure controls in Gametap games (specifically Panzer Dragoon Zwei)? I think I might be out of luck. It recognizes my gamepad but I can't map controls to it.

If all else fails use xpadder and map the keyboard keys to your gamepad buttons.

Lemmings DS
(from the creator of Blast Arena Advance)

Another World

..and everyone wants a boring Lumines port that doesn't have any of the visualization that made the game playable in the first place, and whose difficulty ramps up painfully slowly if you don't hack the .ini (which is probably not called an .ini, and you might have the hex edit the goddamn thing for all I remember, it's been years)!

There is also a really exceptional DS homebrew port of Tetris the Grand Master, but I have no idea where to find it these days because the Tetris Company got all up in the guy's grill. I should probably upload it somewhere.

After selling my car I've been hankering to get behind the wheel, and a racing game seems like the best way to go. Anyone want to recommend me a racing game for the 360 that (hopefully but not necessarily) features: arcade style racing, a career-like mode, real or life-like cars, and crazy drifting down super long tracks and/or street courses? Or really anything is good. I played some Initial D game or something in the arcades the other day and it gave me a HUNGER.

note that I haven't gotten in a video game car since maybe gran turismo 2 for the psx and a little bit of burnout 3 a few years ago so when I look at a name like Forza or Need for Speed UBER TURBO or Colin McRae or whatnot I have absolutely no idea what I am looking at.

sounds like the latest PGR would suit your needs. Dirt 2 is pretty good so far, if you want an off-road focus.

The new sega evo rally or whatever is really pretty, though the control is VERY arcadey. So much so that I didn't like it at all. You might, though.

Downloaded the demo to PGR4 last night and had a ton of fun racing a ferarri around, i love the way the game handles as well as the look and feel of the tracks and locations. Also love the arcadey star-system that gives you points for doing awesome powerslides and stuff. Question about the full game: is there a money-based career system involved used to buy cars for a garage? Also, are there less-outrageous car choices available, like a WRX or Civic or Beetle or is it going to involve super-expensive sports cars only?

EDIT:: Nevermind, answered my questions (i think)

Is there a way around getting a GC memory card to save Gamecube games on a Wii? I know there's no "official" way, but I figured you guys might...know something. There's a code for Spartan: Total Warrior that unlocks all the missions/quests/levels...I guess I could use that and just not skip ahead prematurely...you know...use it to pick up where I left off.

I would actually plan on getting the new Supercard DS Two, the preview tech demos for it have been really impressive. Real time cheats, save states and the promise of being able to play 480p video (scaled obviously) without needing to re-encode. They also say they will include both an SNES and GBA emulator. These have not been seen in action but expectations are high after the success of the iplayer and the original Supercard.

Oh yeah, Groucho, there's also a homebrew of Every Extended Extra which, while not as good as the original, is still a fun time waster in 15 minute intervals.

Also, G., how much is Shatter like Arkanoid? I saw that and it looked interesting but I went with Pixeljunk Eden. Sort of strapped for cash due to holiday spending (I didn't actually look at how much Shatter was, guess I need to check that).
