Depends if you either want to have a good time playing online or like pretty pictures more, in that order. |
Is this because nobody plays UT3 or does it just suck? |

Does anyone know how/what I might need in order to use the wireless Tekken 6 Hori stick with my computer...to use MAME and stuff...that is...if such a thing is possible?
Also: Sorry I always accidentally put news in the quick questions thread.
Edit: 1. Is that new Cave shooter twin-stick, or could I use my arcade stick for it?
.
2. What should I get from XBLA or XBLIG to play with my arcade stick (besides fighting games, I've already got those taken care of). I was having fun playing the Gunstar Heroes demo on the stick... |

1. Have you ever actually played a Cave shooter? They couldn't be any furher removed from Geometry Wars and its ilk, and were all designed as arcade games, anyway. Yes, I use my SFIV TE stick with Futari and it works wonderfully.
2. Ikaruga and Triggerheart Exelica. I can heartily endorse Crosstown as well, and you'd be supporting our very own luvcraft! Some of the Digital Eclipse arcade games (Gyruss, Super Contra) are good, and I'd recommend them if they weren't lazily emulated shit with sloppy menus and intrusive screen borders. |

| Well, to be honest, I hadn't really heard of Gave until this new game came out. I'm not really a seasoned shmup player but it's a genre I'm interested in exploring further...plus...it's very compelling to shell out the cash in support of Cave's decision to go region free. I want stuff like that to keep happening. |

I picked up Witcher because I promised myself the game if it ever fell below $15. Given my backlog, I probably wont get around to playing it until the summer, though. It's got a decent enough combat and is getting a sequel, so it's not shit. Play it.
Now for my own question: What was that page that was taking EGM Now subscriptions? _________________ Still alive. |

I don't know what definition of mainstream you're using, but The Onion AV Club isn't bad. Although they aren't particularly incisive (e.g. they completely drank the Bioshock kool-aid), their reviews concisely cover the overall experience of playing instead of being laundry lists, and they give equal coverage to indie games and blockbusters.
Among the "gamerzzz" sites, Eurogamer is a cut above the rest. |

UT3 easily sucks the life out of your system, but it ain't a bad game by any means. In fact the last patches brought some new life to it. But in the end the amount of people playing the game at any time is far below UT2k4.
I've seen plenty of complaints that people didn't find anyone online on UT3 at all, though I have yet to personally see that happen.
UT2k4 is just more lively. In fact I could go play a few rounds right now on Ubuntu. UT3 is still lacking a (promised) Linux port.

How much did Suda51 have to do with contact, and is it worth playing? I enjoyed Flower, sun and rain.
What other DS games are odd/interesting in a similar way?
Are there any good 3d exploration titles on ds? Tony hawk titles are as close as i've found. |

As I understand it, Contact was mostly Akira Ueda's baby, and Suda51 had little to do with its creation. It's not a very good game, which is very unfortunate because it is gorgeous otherwise. _________________ ☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹☹

It's also not really a game you play. The ending is uh..too late. Someone on here says it actually takes more effort to turn the game off than it does to keep playing it. That's kind of true. _________________ My Hawt Blog Vita Games

first, as MOAI said, Contact was mainly the child of Akira Ueda. (man, I need to get around to catching up on the media of Sakura Note)
having only played the two Shining Soul games (2x Ueda, 1x Suda), I'd make the casual and completely uninformed observation that the main difference between the two is that Suda is generally interested in shaping the narrative via passive presentation (such as cutscenes) while reinforcing it's structure through gameplay, while Ueda is more interested in allowing the player to form their own idea of the narrative through exploration with gameplay as the means of nudging you forward
or
Suda: "This is what I have to show you, but it is up to you what to make of it"
Ueda: "I have much I can show you, but it is up to you whether to consider it all important to your story"
but as indicated, I haven't really played most of their games
also, I didn't realize it until now, but Ueda worked on map design for Flower/Sun/Rain's original PS2 version. I wonder how that translated on the DS release.

Hmmm. Maybe you should go into some detail about what you found interesting about F/S/R.

unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the answer is no. Although I feel it'd be unwise to discount GTA Chinatown Wars based on how you feel (positively or negatively) about the series from III onwards. |

If you just want to use the EX2 on MAME, you shouldn't need any drivers at all. (MAME can detect and use the "hat switch" input, which 360 controllers map the D-Pad to.) It's only if you want to use the controller with games that won't use the hat switch (like a lot of poorly-coded Japanese amateur PC games) that you need the custom drivers, or liberal use of JoyToKey. _________________

My buddy just got a monitor for his computer, and along w/ his HDTV we're going to have a mini-LAN party at his house tonight. We were going to play Killzone 2, but I'm looking for a couple cheap PSN games to either gameshare with him or to buy for a LAN night just in case. I'd probably only buy games I own for him ('cuz 2 copies of PS3 games is a bit expensive), so here's my list:
Army of Two
Kane & Lynch
Unreal Tournament III
Armored Core 4 Answer (does this have co-op?)
Dark Sector
I might just convince him to buy Metal Gear Online, too. Dunno. We're looking for good 2 console games, so, any ideas = awesome. Maybe Cellfactor: Psycho Wars? That shitty Punisher game? _________________ interdimensional |

I have tried using XBCD, but for some reason the zip fails to unpack a certain file and won't install properly. I should add that the stick works fine with GTSNES and Nestopia.
Any idea which version of MAME detects this? _________________ No sir! |

| mine was plug and play with a then-current version of MameUI(32) over the summer, but that was on my laptop that runs Vista, which then points to it being a driver thing, which brings us back to where we started. if you're using an older version of Mame, I would try a newer one though, couldn't hurt. |

| I completed Triggerheart on normal and really really liked it (will play through many more times and on higher difficulties) How do I go about playing more bullet-hell shooters of this kind? I have Xbox 360 w/ wireless arcade stick, PS3, PS2, Wii, Laptop...I'm aware of MAME, but is that worth using with the madcatz street fighter IV pad (which is all I have for a pc controller)? I know about that new Cave game, but the price is too steep. |
