It's now abandonware and can be downloaded for free here.

Cube and the sequel Sauerbraten is probably what he's talking about.

Forge is still totally better. You just have to use an emulator!

The wii game is much more forgiving, but the DS version just feels better.

I tried playing BLAKE STONE (which runs on the Wolfenstein engine) in dosbox yesterday but it ran so slow! I used to remember how to speed 3D games up, but I've forgotten. Can someone please jog my memory?

Anyone here a former reader of NEXT GENERATION? Still have the coverdisks? I'm looking for the FINAL disk they released, since it would have the largest review database. I want an easy way to go through all their reviews around that time, so yes, if you could make an image and upload it somewhere, it would be great.

Also, if anyone has a complete collection of coverdisks, I'd be interested in buying them off you.

The problem is that patches keep breaking mods. You're best bet is to update to 1.004. The latest update is 1.006 but that one, and the previous one, mostly only fixed stuff in multiplayer which know one plays, anyway. 1.004 fixes most of the annoying stuff and is also the most compatable with mods, the ABC INFERNO mod being the most popular which adds in tonnes of shit that should have been in the original game, and also stuff I don't like, but there is a file with the mod that lets you turn things on and off, with easy to follow instructions. You may just want to mix and match seperate mods if you don't like the stuff inferno changes without giving you a choice, but then you run the possibility of conflicts.

After playing the game for a couple hours, search for mods that fix things you don't like. Chances are something is out there.

Yeah, Inferno adds too much which is what I didn't like, it is indeed not the same game (the atmosphere is killed by some additions), but it did add some brill stuff no other mod has seemed to do.

Never tried the mod you have, but it sounds good!

I joined GameTap for a couple months (primarly so I could play Uru Live with a friend, which is dead now). The first month was like, 10 cents, so that was cool, and the other months were $10. It was worth it, I played lots of games I've been meaning to because they were there and what not, though yeah, the retrictions did get annoying. And no, you can't play anything (except free games) once you cancel your membership, though there are some swell free games.

Also, since there are so many games, you'll probably end up only finishing like two and getting halfway through 50 others. But hey, it's the only place to play Toy Commander on the PC! Apart from emulation, I mean. Everything is so nice and easy to use, though some things could be improved. And some games didn't seem to work which was frustrating, but most did.

Yeah, I got a repair mod that lets me fix stuff up at the traders. Also made it cost a fair bit so money isn't so trivial.

Uru Live is dead again? That poor, poor game. It really is a small wonder. I wish gamers were ready for it. Not that Ubi doesn't have a significant hand in it.

Yeah, it had its last month a couple months back. It's a shame, but to be honest, I saw it coming. I had a great time with it, though.

I used FRODO which wasn't QUITE that easy, but it was still pretty damn simple to use. As far as I know, it's the easiest one to use (and works really well) but it's been a long time since I've tried C64 emulation. What games are you thinking of trying? I love the C64.

What was the first commercial game to use the word "fuck"?

It's definitely worth playing. It's very addictive, though it can get repetitive. Thankfully, aroudn those times something new gets thrown your way.
