I guess I'm just hearing the term tossed around in discussion a lot and I'm not quite sure what it refers to. Game assets? A particular tile in a 2D game? a room or area? |

| I take it to mean a particularly striking, impressive and high-budget moment or sequence that appears only once in the course of the game. A brief inexplicable motorcycle stage, for instance, or a big boss battle. |

Quick question: Is valkyre Profile 2 a sequel or a prequel to the first game? I remeber hearing both before it came out, but I never got the definitive answer. I'd hit the faqs, but I know I'd spoil something for myself. _________________

Prequel, hundreds of years before Lenneth's story, etc. I'm pretty sure it tells more about certain plot points from the original, though. _________________

It is also heavily scripted so that every player that comes across the event will have the exact same experience while playing it.
As for Valkyrie Profile 2 it is both a sequel and prequel, and I don't mean in the Resident Evil 3 sense. _________________

It's plot is pretty much a pointless mess, and you can't really call it a classic, but the game has generally high quality aesethetics, and the battle system is fast and intuitive enough that the game doesn't feel like a chore at all. I suggest it if you're looking for a JRPG fix that won't drag you down - or get you hooked.
One thing to know is that, apparently for certain memory programming reasons, save states probably won't work well at all. I can't remember if it was Goemon/Solid Runner level wackiness, but the results generally aren't pretty. I have no idea if that still holds true with recent emulators, though - it's been a while. Still, better safe than sorry. _________________

How do I use a Gamecube controller to play VC games? I can't find out anywhere. _________________ "Say, that's a nice fez!"

um - plug it in and it works?
note, though, that you don't even want to think about using it for any remotely action-oriented SNES titles that don't let you remap buttons, because nintendo was obstinate and went button-name-for-button-name with the cube controller even though it's more or less rotated one step clockwise from the SNES pad in that respect.
also, for whatever reason, you have to use the d-pad and not the analog stick for genesis titles, so that's not such a hot idea either. it's good for cube titles and one-wiimote-tg16-fiveplayer, though. |

Let me elaborate. I just got Super Mario World, and I can play 1 player w/ my Classic Controller.
Should I plug the Gamecube controller in port 2 if I wanna play 2 player?
I'm really cofused right now.
Edit: Can I control 1 player with both controlers at the same time? _________________ "Say, that's a nice fez!"

Look up with a set piece means in the context of a film. It's basically the same thing in a game, although we gamers tend to be more discerning/selective when we choose what to apply the term to. _________________

How well can the DS emulate Gameboy/Gameboy Color games? I mean, are there emulators that can reach very accurate reproduction? _________________

Some internetting indicates that says it was the combo pack of Dead of the Brain 1&2, indeed released in 1999 and was indeed SCD(2). _________________

Guys, is there any real reason to own Lumines Plus?
I mean, I played the crap out of the PSP version. Are there any new skins, or should I just stick to getting Lumines II jp? _________________

Nightfire was absolutely wonderful multiplayer, basically a Goldeneye update that everybody missed I guess. Everything or Nothing was really hard, but had good co-op multiplayer, if the players were skilled. |

Why specifically the JP release of Lumines II? Is there more content than the western version? I say this as I'm looking to pick it up soon after playing the first one and live to death recently. |

I've played through the first chapter when I first saw the ROM. I mean, yeah, you can play it, but I wouldn't want to keep going without knowing what is really going on.
But! The first chapter will get you interested, to say the least. It worked well on the images alone. _________________

Actually, yes! Ken Iishi is on it! And some of the American artists might have been removed, not sure yet.
Also, I heard the US version was 80+ skins while the JP release is 100+? _________________

Actually, it's been confirmed for quite a while.

Mine still works, somehow.
I just leave the cartridge inside my system if it has a battery backed save. I've yet to lose a file. Now those SNES cartridges on the other hand, those've always been a bit flaky to me. At least those batteries are easy to replace.
The other alternatives for Zelda fun are hunting down the GC collections or using emulation. _________________

Hmmm...the collector's disk is a bit expensive and I don't have a wii...
Also, I find playing games on the nes pretty satisfying. I'm just wondering whether it's worth a shot on ebay, or if I'll be wasting my money. _________________ The people are like wool to me |

Is it possible to force my Xbox 360 to always display widescreen on my 4:3 standard TV? I don't mind letterboxing, and I'd prefer to let 16:9 enhanced games keep their intended ratio.
What about the Wii? _________________ Illustration Portfolio | The Gamer's Quarter |

No argument on things being more fun on their native platforms. Though unless you fee like cracking open you cart to slap in a new battery, I wouldn't bother buying another copy on ebay.
If anything, the little batteries inside the system are now 20 years old. Unless it's brand new/never been used, there's a good chance it may be dead. Unfortunately the NES batteries are damn near welded on to the cartridge, unlike the small clips that hold the SNES batteries in place. So it's a bit of a bitch to remove. Still, nothing electrical tape can't fix if you want a crack at it. _________________

heh, amazon gives exactly 0 results if you are stupid enough to enter "lumines PS2" in their mighty search-box. Fuck them.
Now I need a trackliste since Disney's weird website doesn't know that there is Lumines Plus at all. If you could help me there, I would be indebted to you, sir! _________________

I've got the Tekken 5 arcade stick, and the button layout is like so:
They're also sort of at an angle, but I was too lazy to do that in the picture.
I have several other fightings games, and am considering to get some more, but I am unable to find pictures of their arcade cabinates to see what their button layouts are. I would like to set the controls in the PS2 versions to replicate the games' button layouts. The one's I am currently looking for are:
Guilty Gear XX Slash
And now that I type this, I realize that is the only one I can think of. I'm pretty sure I've got a couple more, though.
Also, what is this? Accent Core is already here, so this isn't another game, is it? Or is it a tournament or something?
Also, what the hell is up with Trio the Punch? That game is so weird. |
