Pretty sure Sony recently elminated the option to gameshare.

Hmm, well after some googling the recent change was not elminiating it, but rather changing the PSN user agreement. The ability to download your stuff onto other PS3's is supposed to be a convenience to those who actually purchased it, not a means to share content without having to pay again.

So basically if they decide to, they can ban you now for sharing, or something.

That would make sense. But, so far, it's kind of impossible to tell where the hitbox is with so much stuff all over the screen.

While swinging stuff with the anchor, a tiny green dot will appear in the center of your character, marking the hitbox.

Thank you. Also: I've been playing some DoDonPachi on my laptop (which you may remember mentioning to me as a Cave shooter that was easy to get ahold of). I like it a bunch. It makes me want to get a VGA cable and hook up to the TV.

does anyone know of any websites that will deliver another website to me as black and white text with only the most basic HTML tags (italics, bolding, paragraph formatting, linking to other sites) with things like images, different color fonts/backgrounds, etc all stripped out? Stopping any coloration at all is the most important.

even better if I can pick and choose what features to have stripped.

doesn't matter if I have to manually feed the url into the site, although it'd obviously nice if it would continue to handle any sites I went to from that one.

DAIS (or anyone else who knows) I'm trying to remember the name of a Sega CD laserdisc-esque game with a sci-fi theme and very anime animation. I think at one point the protagonist has to escape from a sandworm. Any ideas?

it's been said many times before, but for playing 2d games on a pc, a usb saturn pad is essential. they're cheap on ebay.

I think it had a male protagonist, though. But it wasn't ninja Hayate. I also think it was made in the 90s, but I could be wrong.

EDIT: found it. It's Strahl

EDIT 2: Here's a better video of it.

the others were ninja hayate, cobra command and road avenger. but you say it's not ninja hayate, and cobra command and road avenger are both first person and inside vehicles. time gal also has the protagonist escaping from monsters/cavemen/ww2pilots for a lot of the game

Well the SF IV fightpad is pretty much a Saturn controller...so it'll do the job for now. It's working well for Donpachi.

There's a PS2 version of the fightpad? I thought it was a 360/PS3 exclusive.

Either way, it's only like the Saturn pad if you look at it in a screenshot from very far away. As soon as that thing's in your hand, though? Nuh uh.

also:

My 360 is a four year old launch model that somehow still works, there are RRODs now and again but it's still alive - i fear this shall not last forever. It's not so essential as I have a ps3 but I'm probably looking at replacing it with a cheap arcade unit down the line, questions:

1) this sounds like a fucking hoover even with games installed to disc - how is the noise on current models?
2) are they of better build-quality now?

At least comparatively to what it sounds like playing from a game disc my 360 doesn't make much noise if a game is installed.

Mine has the Jasper processor (the current one).

usually you can find the flv file by just searching the page's source. Then just download that and play it with this.

So I've been playing some MGS3 lately and been thinking about that scene when you first meet Ocelot. This one in fact:

(image is also youtube link)

So what exactly was Ocelot trying to do do here, except trying to be a cocky asshole? Why would he "eject the first bullet by hand" when he's gonna shoot a guy at point blank range? Why would ANYONE do that? Or is this just Kojima fooling about again?

It seems like what he did was insert a new magazine while one bullet was still in the gun's chamber, then rack the slide by hand. This should have ejected the bullet in the chamber but it ended up jamming instead. Looks maybe like because he kept his hand over the ejection port while racking.

I suppose the "normal" way to reload an automatic as opposed to "by hand" is to empty the weapon entirely so the slide locks back, insert the new magazine, and then use the spring-loaded slide release to chamber the first round and ready the weapon. But in real life people reload before empty all the time, and often rack by hand just to be sure the round in the chamber is seated correctly, especially after the weapon has been jostled around.

So 1. there doesn't seem to be anything particularly special or flashy about what Ocelot is doing, though it is perhaps unnecessary and 2. the only reason it would draw a jam is because he kept his hand over the port, something no trained shooter would do. So uh, it doesn't make sense to me.

I just went through this recently in the axe.

Nothing anyone came up with worked well (or really at all) for me, so I'm using realplayer. It will give you a pop up button for almost any web video and will download the source format. So like youtube HD videos come in 2 or 3 different formats.

Other than probably having to reset your video file associations after you install it, realplayer hasn't bothered me at all. It also likes to disable windows aero while its open, which seems stupid this late in the game. but hey it works well otherwise!

REGARDING OCELOT

I think really all that's necessary to know for this scene is that Ocelot thinks he's a cool showoff dude. but sucks at it.

I think though he just put a clip in and forgot to chamber the first round, so the slide popped back and jammed the bullet when he tried to pull the trigger.

I want to play me some Resident Evil 2. Is there any particular reason I should acquire the PS1, Gamecube, or Dreamcast versions over the others? Or seek out the N64 edition? Wait for a possible Wii port?

The Dreamcast, Gamecube and Dual Shock version of the PSX game have the Extreme Battle minigame, and the GC/DC versions play at a higher resolution. The N64 version has extra files spread throughout the game. I'd say go for either GC or DC.

This may be a DAIS ALERT question, but I recall once seeing some pretty lengthy (English) posts on the story and mechanics of a couple of old PSone RPGs, I think Linda Cubed Again and Ore no Shikabane o Koete Yuke. I think I remember reading such posts on some version of Insert Credit's forums or another, but I can't turn them up in the archives. Anyone know anything about these games, or played them, and if they're worth fucking around with without much Japanese knowledge?

Alternatively, help me figure out what to do with this 1,700yen on my Japanese PSN account.

I was looking at the fantastic tale of 39-in-1 MAME bootleg, a arcade ROM that runs a pirate version MAME, meaning that MAME now emulates MAME, when I noticed this note in the mameinfo:

Quote:
Which MAME version [is used in] 39-in-1 is, it's is difficult to tell from a bare binary [,] since unlike the makers of a certain Japan-only PS2 classics series they *did* remove the MAME version message.

Does anyone know what compilation this was?

Oh it wasn't a compilation, but they did release a couple of arcade games on PS2, Haunted Castle and Trio the Punch to name two. They were so terrible that they would crash to a c: prompt and yeah had MAME menu options still in them.

When arcades still existed around these parts, most of them would have these "Ultracade" cabinets, with pictures of ugly CG freakazoid Bratz dolls plastered all over them. They had strangely elaborate menus, and like 40 emulated games (nothing past the early 16-bit era, though) on each. I never saw anyone play one.

I assume these things ran off of MAME too?

Man, that guy actually got the combined forces of Namco, SNKP, and Tecmo after his ass and got slapped with a felony? That Edge Games troll has nothing on him.

I wonder what's happened to all those illegitimate cabinets. Hopefully most have been gutted, sold to struggling arcades or private collectors, and lovingly refurbished and refitted.

There is one arcade left within driving distance here and it's a sorry sight. Everything's broken or barely functional, with all the money going towards kiddie redemption machines. The greatest tragedies being Outrun 2 with a busted wheel and monitor on the 2P side, and a vintage Viper Phase 1 cab with exploded speakers and the most washed-out vertical monitor you've ever seen. I've spoke to the staff about purchasing the PCB and inserts from the latter, but they don't want to be left with an empty cabinet.

just out of perverse curiosity, what's the worst thing that could happen were I to use DSorganize to download a GBA rom to the microSD card in my EZ4Lite? I'm assuming it wouldn't be able to save, and might even fail to load, but it wouldn't brick an expertly flashed DS, would it?

If the download is sucessfull (I have a 60% rate of success in downloading stuff using DSOrganize) you should be fine. Otherwise, the worst thing that might happen is that the game won't run.

I know Resident Evil 5 is bad compared to number 4. But what would be a reasonable price for it? It's starting to come down, and I haven't played it yet.
